Are there any other former J.W.'s out there (who were deprived of holiday & birthday celebrations as children)... that now, as adults, get really excited over birthdays? Is it just me? I am about to be 26. :-)

I'm not a JW, but I have some friends that are former ones, and we celebrated their first thanksgiving together. It was really exciting.
And I'm 28 and I get pretty freaking excited about my birthday. There's nothing wrong with that.

How could anyone deprive you of a birthday. When I get to 18
Don't want to get any older. How do you stop that from happening. Now I have a better question for you.
Did you have both parents who loved you? Did they try to teach you right from wrong? Were they good to you? Who gives a crap about holidays. Mine left me to live in a foster home.
Got beat up every day. My parents take drugs and won't even come to see me. My grandparents came and got me so I could get enough to eat. Did they give you enough to eat?
You sound like a spoiled little butt head. I feel sorry for your parents.

Im not JW but my ex brother in law has a kid with a woman that is JW. For the last 5 years we havent been able to celebrate anything with him (I treat him like my nephew even thought hes not) Now we just found out that my ex BIL is getting full custody of him and were super excited to throw him one huge bash on his next b-day!

Not sad at all. Happy 26th Birthday. The previous answerer seemed to know a lot about mire. Must go with the territory

Sad, really.

(Proverbs 26:11) Just like a dog returning to its vomit, the stupid one is repeating his foolishness.

(2 Peter 2:21,22) For it would have been better for them not to have accurately known the path of righteousness than after knowing it accurately to turn away from the holy commandment delivered to them. The saying of the true proverb has happened to them: “The dog has returned to its own vomit, and the sow that was bathed to rolling in the mire.”
