A voter's referendum and a city ordinance are proposed to punish landlords who rent to illegal immigrants, revoke the business permits of for-profit entities that employ illegal immigrants and make English the “official” city language.

What do you think?

scottythecomic - I don't support trying to make your situation better at the expense of others by breaking the law.

sqwirlsgrl - I don't know what exactly the English official language part means. They have to translate most stuff you would care about under federal law.

However, I do approve of making it less, not more attractive for illegals to come here. Employment isn't the only - or in my opinion the biggest - magnet drawing them here. I think it is education for their children, something we cannot bar. I would go a long way to help my kids, and helping my kids is why I am against illegal immigration degrading their education.

I am for legalization of screened illegals once we have border security and interior enforcement, but I think we have to dismantle the underclass notion that it is unacceptable to expect people to follow the law. Otherwise all the border security in the world won't keep more illegals from coming.

I think it is FABULOUS..........GREAT.......umm running out of adjectives. I have always been a stringent supporter of "employer fine and/or imprisonment". The fact that they took this one step further is WELL exceptional.

Who can hate making people show their birth certificates, their parents birth certificates and give blood to rent a home in these great cities FANTASTIC. I think we should email them and "step it up"....lets get the mayor of Hazelton and all the "good ole boys" to grab their spray paint and LETS MARK THE HOMES we think may have an illegal living in them. Hmmm lets see what mark shall we use X's have been used....I know I's.....giant I's on the door of suspected illegal's.

Oh and GOD forbid anyone speak ANYTHING other than English. Why that is a travesty.....being bi-tri lingual well that is downright UNAMERICAN.....maybe my German friends (if they lived there) can talk in the basement or perhaps a small room behind the closet.

Oh and as for San Bernadino.....I would try to get rid of the "Methamphetimine Capital of the world" title BEFORE I started the grabbing those cans of spray paint.......as a matter of fact......lets use chalk in good ole San Bernadino.

I can't wait to tell my friends and relatives about this and people who support this. I have a large amount of German friends....I am sure it will take them RIGHT BACK.

Peace

I believe it is a terrible move reeking of hate and racism. Mexicans are a great people and are deserving of recognition as well.

What if you or your family was illegal and in a locale that didn't permit you to feed or clothe them? Would you not migrate to the greatest country in the world to try to make a go of it? Love would compel me to.

I support immigration, illegal or otherwise.

Scotty the comic,
Then I guess "love" would compel you to let illegals crash on your couch too, right? I'm sure you have a half dozen of them crashing in your pad.

Maybe not, huh?
