It simply means that we should die to ourselves; in other words, not give into the desires of our flesh. As the classic bracelet says, What Would Jesus Do? In every situation, we should be thinking less of what WE wan't to do, or want WE want, and more of what others want or need. We, as Christians, should not hold ourselves higher than others, but others higher than ourelves. Hope this helps clear things up, God bless!

Just a restatement of what RA said. Forget the dying idea, that is a doctrinal belief adopted by the Constantine meetings that became the first world wide church. They also determined what was in and what was out in the Bible, Peter was in and James was out, then Peter was out because he wrote contrary to Paul and Paul was used more than the words of Jesus to define the doctrine and dogma. To restate the answer from RA, God restarts his love and your hope everyday. Yesterday is gone, he remembers not, it is by his love that each day is a new day, by the will of God, weather you thought you needed it or wanted it or not, He just gives it away everyday.
May the Peace of our Loving God Bless your Journey of Faith.

Dying to yourself refers to dying or not obeying your carnal desires. We have feelings like anyone else, but we don't act on them because we realise that the desires of the flesh are wrong. Now you may not have desires to do all of those things, but we always have desires to do things that are wrong. We as Christians do not act on those desires, we die to them and live to the will of God which is walking in the Spirit
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
THESE ARE THINGS BELOW THAT WE DO:
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

This is what Jesus said in this regard at John 5:30: "I cannot do a single thing of my own initiative; just as I hear, I judge; and the judgment that I render is righteous, because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me."
When we submit ourselves to living by Bible standards everyday of our lives and each day choose to put God's will first in our lives, then we are dying to ourselves, because we put God's desires ahead of our own desires. If you want to know how to do this consult the following website: www.watchtower.org. It offers free publications to those who want satisfying answers to Bible questions.

Jesus said we should continually follow him. So that is what it means. We die to our own will, no matter what we want, if it conflicts with God's will for our life.
Sometimes it means to resist sinning, and from another angle it might mean to move to another city to preach, or give a homeless person food.

I'm not really sure you should "die" everyday. I think the idea is just that you understand, and appriciate the suffering that Christ dealt with on your behalf.

as christians we don't live, walk in life or make decisions regarding on our emotions. We are suppose to do right thing even if we don't feel like it. Like if a friend ask for a small favour and I don't feel like doing it but I know it's the right thing to do, I'll do it inspite of my feelings.

If you're trying to bring an understanding of Jesus to others, you're living for Him already in one way. I think dying to ourselves means staying focused on Jesus, His teachings and His example and not letting worldly things or our own desires distract us. Blessings to you!

Your inner self wants to follow temptation and the world. To die for yourself, just ignore the tempations and think about God. Pray every day to live for Him.

As St. Paul writes, "Whatever you do, do for the glory of God."
By this, I think he means to see God in every task, no matter how seemingly mundane -- because it's through God's grace and blessing that we are able to do anything at all !
