Well I'm the person to answer this: I had one for 7.5 yrs, All the way from Australia to U.S.A, then after that...We got married...

I tell you what...It was really REALLY hard... After the 5th year I was really wanting to quit. That's how difficult it was. We stuck it out. AND we weren't seeing anyone else. We saw each other twice a year. Once a year I came here and once a year he came to Sydney.

In 2001 - We got married. We have been married now, this July for 5 years!!!...Plus, we also have a 7 month old georgeous boy!!!

Now we do live here in the US of A. So one of you do have to sacrifice to move countries that was me.(if your speaking about long distance of other countries) , at times it does get depressing. But my son, is now the joy of my life.

Anyways. Just make sure you know that your partner is the one....They can work, as long as you are committed, and there is trust...On both ends...and of course...LOVE!!!
Good luck...

P.S. I'm sorry to say...I don't know ANYONE else who has done what I have done.

GOOD LUCK AGAIN MY FRIEND :)

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. A long distance relationship is a hard relationship to keep but it can be kept. It relies deeply on trust, honesty, and love. You need to be able to trust your partner not to cheat on you in your time apart, must be honest with each other, and mostly you must have a love that keeps you together during the seperated time.

They can work....if both people work hard to keep the relationship

In my personal experience, they have not, but that is just me. It may work for you. I really believe it is up to the people in the realtionship. If you are willing to make the effort, I believe it can work. It also depends on how far "long distance" is and how often you are able to see each other or talk to each other. If you really care for the person, it is worth a try. Good Luck!

Only if both sides want it to. You both should keep in touch with each other everyday. Write, talk on the phone (if you can), e-mails, cards, etc. Anything to get a conversation out of the other person. Make them feel that they are special enough to go on through with this relationship. And mean it. Life is to short for games.

I think if it does not last for ever. If you two have been dating for a while and one moves for a year it will work. If you see each other atleast 2 weekends. It makes your relationship strong in the begining because you are so excited to see each other. Though over time it drifts apart if you do not work extremly hard at it.

Yeah I was in a long distance relationship for 3 years with my boyfriend who was 300 miles away. Finally last year, he moved up to be with me and we are so happy.

i'm in one now and im always debating with myself
if i should still be with him or not i love him alot and i trust him but i feel so isolated. after a while your lives will go in different directions and you 2 will have priorities that might exel each other. ive been in this long distance relation ship for 2 and a half years so it just might work out for you!!!
good luck with it!!!

They do if you are both commited....I've had a couple and well, I just got married to the ONE (started out cross country) and we have an amazing marriage (we now live together of course.) But at first it does require different sacrifices than a regular relationship...but if you believe it's right...than they don't seem like such sacrifices.

I think so. My step-son has a girlfriend in Pittsburgh PA and we live in Philadelphia, PA area. He met her in school while in Pittsburgh and he has now been home for almost 2 years. They take turns going back and forth to visit. They talk on phone regularly. I think if both parties are willing to commit to the relationship and are willing to "go the extra mile" it can work out.

Depends on how long you plan on being long distance! What your plans are for the future and if the person on the other end has similar intentions!
