I have noticed that they stick the utensils they use right back in the drawer. I think it's pretty dangerous considering all the disease out there. Do health departments do checks on them??

Ive stopped going because of it.

Where you going?...the nail salon i use has a pot of disinfectant that they drop their utensils into during treatment and then they put em in the Sterilizer after each customer...im sure there are regulations regarding this in place....contact your local health authority...they should be able to inform you of the practices and you could report them whilst you are enquiring....

They should disinfect between customers, unless they use disposable utensils, in which case a new packet should be opened for each customer right in front of them. If you are concerned, you can ask the technician to disinfect the utensils before using them on your nails, if they didn't open a brand new packet in front of you. If they refuse, just leave and find a different salon that doesnt compromise on hygiene. You can always report them to the local health department yourself.
