with my friend and I keep callin and checking on him.. is that stupid? I'm only gone for 10 days..

I regularly call home when I leave my pets with someone, no I don't think you are stupid you are a real pet lover and thats what we do. Calling more than once every couple of days would be excessive unless of course you don't trust the person you left him with. I presume you gave the dog sitter a cell number he can contact you on in the event of an emergency?

That depends on how often you call. I am going on my honeymoon in two weeks. My husband probably will not have a second thought about "his" (our) dogs, but I will call my aunt who is puppy sitting at least twice and his mother who's watching the big dog at least twice. We will only be gone 5 days and I think that is enough calling. If anything happened they would call us, but since we will be out of the country, I'd want to check in anyway just in case they couldnt get through or something.

No. It's not stupid. Your dog is probably the main thing in your life. But look at it this way, if something were to happen to your dog, there's nothing you can do about it now while you're away. Just relax, if something happens you will find out about it after you vacation.

I went on vacation for 10 days and left my dogs with my friend. I called the first day and e-mailed almost every day after that. I don't think it is crazy. You just miss him.

No, that is not stupid. Pet owners grow to love their pets as much as their children. To some people this sounds crazy, but to pet lovers it is normal!

well your not stupid but you are stupid about leaving your dog with your friends because maby your friends dont take of the dog and maby they will do something bad to him i think you should of brought him with you on the trip or you should have kept him with one of your family.
