Ok. Here is the issue. I am absolutley in love with my 10G ipod. About six months ago, it decided to stop working when I plug it into my computer to update the new songs I bought. Yesterday, I re installed i tunes, installed the ipod updater which reset it back to factory settings, and everything seemed ok, until I tried to actually plug the ipod into the USB and it didn't do anything. This morning, I got it to download a little bit, but then the battery, which had been charging all night, ran out. I charged it about half way, plugged it back in, and my computer completly froze up. I restarted it, and now iTunes won't even open. I know I will get a few "at least you have food to eat" comments, but it is a really frustrating situation, and was wondering if anyone has experienced this and was able to resolve it. Thanks a million!

itunes tends to be fine when working with apples and only apples. I had a motorola phone with itunes and i had similar experiences even though i was using a new mac. I would suggest you use a firewire port as this is what the ipos was designed to use. I know this may not be wonderful advice especially if you don't have one, but you can by a firewire port cheap. if you have tried this or don't want to then get the new itunes from the apple site and turn off the auto update in itunes preferences. this may be a bore but it means you can safetly add and remove as you go and hopefully without the freezing issue. good luck

Try pluggin your ipod into a different USB port, that might work.

Or try leaving your ipod on plugged in to the charger while it's connected to your computer.

To get itunes back up and running, i'd say go to add and remove programs and uninstall it and get a new version. Then, restart your computer. Then start up itunes, then plug your ipod in and download your music to it, and do it from a different USB port than you usually do.

Hey, i wish i knew more about ipods to help, but thats the best i can do. I hope you get it working, i know how frustrating it can be when a simple thing gets so complicated. let me know if you need any more help.

The best thing to do would be to call the customer service people. Sometimes it is even possible to email them. If that dosn't help you , go talk to someone at a Best Buy store or wherever you bought it. They should have some idea how to help and might be able to show how to fix it. Sometimes seeing be done is easier than someone telling you how to do it in words!! Good luckk.!!!
