Iams adult formula helped by dog remain healthy for 13 years and she's still kicking. They have a variety of bite sizes and the kibble does not oxidize if your pup is a free feeder. They have it at most stores ina gree bag. Purina has made some dogs I know sick to thier tummies, but I'm sure that each dog is different. Enjoy your puppy!!
I apologize for the person that first answered. You should be getting real advice that will help you and your dog!

Don't get the cheaper, mass-market commerical stuff.
Go for a natural type food. Check the ingredients watch out for wheat and meat by products. Also consider that a lot of foods may contain livers of commercial livestock. Commercial livestock are pumped full of antibiotics, hormones, pesitcides.. and they are all concentrated in the liver. Many feel this is why cancer rates are so high in dogs today.
You might consider brands like Innova, Nutro and Wellness - all pruport to offer human quaulity ingredients. I feed my girl Wellness Green (Lamb and Rice)

Best is ,ask your Vet first. There are many Brands out there but not all of them are from good Quality. Avoid feeding him with People Food, it can turn him to be a very fussy eater. If you follow the Recommendation from your Vet you will have a happy dog for yeas to come.

There is a hardware-type store called Menard's that sells a very high protein brand of kibble. It is the store brand (I think the bag is green) and relatively inexpensive but good even so. Congrats! Goldens are great dogs!

Whole Dog Journal (it's a subscription, not a website) is a fabulous resource for learning about food choices for your dog (along with other useful health and training information). Very often, vets are not that saavy about food choices -- while it seems like it's in their field, it's just not really their specialty.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that there is no one food that works well for all dogs. A good food for your dog is one that keeps them at a good weight, gives them a shiny coat and clean ears, nice skin, and no smelliness (skin, ears), farting, itching or paw chewing.

Nutro Natural Choice dry puppy food. Its the healthiest brand out there. Unlike other brands, it doesnt have all the unhealthy by-products in it. Science Diet is a good choice, too. But anything by Nutro is best......Nutro Natural Choice, Nutro Ultra, Nutro Max.

Yes. The best dog foods have meat as the first ingredient. They contain no by products (which can include cancerous tissue) and they contain no corn or wheat (which can trigger allergies) The best brands include: California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick

Purina is good. If it is a puppy then get the puppy chow. The first answer on here is rude and obnoxious by the way.

Go and read the dog food labels. The first ingredient on the label should be meat. Most aren't, they list corn. Good hunting!
