First, you need to have a diagnosis....best from your family doctor or a psychiatrist. Then together you will decide what is best for you. It may be medication, meditation, change of diet. So many things influence our internal being, so there is really no pat answer. If you are religious, talk to God and ask for His guidance. Praying helps in many ways. Exercise is also good for lifting a blue mood. Hope things get better for you.

You can take some control over how you feel by using some of the strategies listed below:
1. Learn some ways to relax and incorporate them into your daily routine. Even if too much stress and tension aren't the cause of your depression (although they very well might be), they certainly aggravate it.
2. Identify things that are pleasant for you and plan them into your schedule. Research suggests that depressed people have a lack of pleasurable events in their lives and that they actually avoid things that give them pleasure.
3. Increase your activity level. Unfortunately, depressed individuals don't have much energy for exercise, so they tend to remain inactive. Low activity level serves to increase depressed feelings, which then inhibit activity further. To break this cycle, schedule daily exercise that is appropriate for your lifestyle and conditioning level.
4. Identify self-ctitical thoughts and switch to self-rewarding thinking. In other words, get off your back. It is easy to make yourself depressed by being overly harsh and critical.
5. Analyze your social behavior. Many depressed people are lonely and isolated. By learning new social skills and assertive communication, you can often get needed support .
6. Children might avoid the need for presciption antidepressents. and if the one of the parents are depressed, getting the parent help can prevent the child from becoming depressed.
7. Listen to soft soothing relaxing music or something with lots of rhythm. Music is to the spirit of mankind like a bandaid is to a cut.
It's more the intenisty that you can prevent.

Exercise is a great thing. A lot of people take meds, but some people REALLY don't need them.
See a Social Worker or Psychologist before a psychiatrist (they'll only prescribe meds)..
Run or walk 20-30 mintues a day. Helps get the endorphines going, which help restart the neurtotransmitters.

I'm wondering if you might mean a way to prevent being "effected" by depression...? Sometimes, by moving our "awareness" into a "witness" position, we can observe what our mental, physical, emotional states are,.. how we are experiencing them...and possibly what we may do to change them (if desired). This permits the energies to flow through without being blocked or distorted by outside influences. It is also a good position to rest in as causes and resolutions are discovered. Of course, one would want to gain the help of counselors and/or therapists when attempting to change these conditions, especially when there are debilitating or restricting effects present. These people usually are very helpful as they specialize in the fields of resolution and change for those who are suffering.
...and, by the way, the witness position is possibly where you were reading this from...while you were reading it.
Love me :)

just thank god your not larrib who was SL A I IV. cause squish that together and its "Lamb who was SLAIN" and b=DI stitched together like in the attached photo.
but it could also be M=IVI stitched together as the 1000 year seal on satan, put there by god himself.
made=13145=14=5=e thus made make it into heaven. and the faster they go there but not by human hands the better.
god=7154=17=8=h shows god is first in heaven.
MARCH APRIL MAY shows h a DI stitched together RIL M reading forward and h C R A M as reading backward. Thus it is possible that god is the arm shown.
but can't be "made" because he is not italian. so if you come to beleive that what is the rest of the world's highest honor? and what do you have to do to get et?

Depression was "born" along with anything "not natural" for us people.. industrial revolution, noises pollution etc etc its not a disease, its all in the head :) dont believe the medics they are stupid, thats why after all the pills make you worse, cause there was nothing wrong in the first place..
You just need to get back to peaceful, real genuine and simple life, every day happiness.

Depression can only be prevented if you go to the doctor and he prescribes you some pills. That´s because depression its a chemical problem that involves some receptors that live in the brain.

I don't believe in drugs so for me it's just a matter of acceptance, knowing there will be good days and bad days. Live through the bad days and try to do good things for your life so there will be more good days. I always try to keep in mind that things change, and if they can change then why not for the better. It gets easier every year, even if it never really goes away it's better every year. Just stay strong.

I just came out of a deep depression. I started exercising, getting some sun, and taking a antidepressant. Exercise and Vitamin K (what the sun produces in your body) is suppose to keep you healthy in mind and body.
