blowing drying your hair upside down helps too....bend over and let your hair hang and then blow dry from the roots to the tips.

1. Use volumizing Mousse. Charles Worthington's "Big Hair" works pretty well (It's in a red bottle and can be bought at a regular store)
2. Blow dry your hair upside down. If you wear your hair to one side, blow dry it to the other first. This will make it stand up a little more when you place it to the desired side.
3. If your hair is flat because it's straight, try a choppy haircut. It will give your hair some shape.
4. Use a cleansign shampoo once a week to get out residue caused by products. Try Neutrogena's anti-residue formula. Don't do this too often b/c it does dry hair out.

Firstly hello! I come from a family of 5 girls and 3 of us have thick hair 2 of us have fine hair so i know a thing or two about this struggle.
Firstly do NOT wash your hair everyday.
When you do wash your hair wash it with a volumizing shampoo this will help to thicken each strand.
my sister also loves neutrogena shampoo (Neutrogena Clean Shampoo, Replenishing) as it cleans out all the residue in your hair from styling products. (if you use them)
another thing is don't use any of those silicone oils they weigh down your hair.
Mousse is lighter only buy the ones for fine hair that goes for the volumizing shampoo and all hair styling products.
hope this is helpful! If this doesn't work i have a few more tricks up my sleeve!

My hair is straight and fine (and flat). I don't like to use alot of product in my hair or go to alot of fuss.

I find (for me) that the best thing is to:

1. Flip your head upside down and use a hair dryer for a minute or two to aerate your hair, then flip your head back.

2. Plait or braid your hair and leave it in overnight or for a few hours. When you take it out it gives a 'crimped' look with heaps of body.

If you have fine hair like me, your hair will probably hold the body well enough without using mousse or hairspray (which will begin to weigh it down again).

I would try changing your shampoo and conditioner regularly and wash your hair about every second day.

Good luck!

If chemicals aren't what your looking for then try using a volumizing moose, apply to wet hair; pick threw; turn head upside down and blow dry. Or you could get a body wave perm and that will give it to you. Just use someone you can trust and if your hair is fine make sure they use the big rods.

I have really flat hair too, there are several things you can do seperately or you can combine them for even better volume and body. To go from flat to volumized, you have to start with your washing. Be sure to condition and care for the health of your hair, but be carefull not to over condition because it can weigh hair down making it impossible to breathe life into it. Condition very lightly after washing. You may even want to use a clarifyer to strip your hair of any buildups and residues from styling products and oils. I wouldn't recomend using it as your regular shampoo, I find if dries out your hair too much if you do. After you wash, towel dry until your hair is 75% dry. Make sure it isn't saturated. Apply a volumizing gel or mouse, whichever you prefer. I prefer mouse cause' I get better results out of it. If you have long hair of course you need more, so adjust according to your length. For shoulder length hair, use approximately the same size of a softball. Mouse has a tendancy to break down as you rub it in. After you apply your styling product, try blowdrying your hair upside down. Hang your head upside down and start at the roots. Make sure those are nice and dry and then work your way down. If you like your hair to tuck under then when you are drying turn your hair outwards with brush to dry. Brush from the outer layer. You can also use a volumizing brush and accessories for your blow dryer. If you don't have the money for all of that, just make sure to mouse it up, and use a regular slotted brush that will allow lots of hot air to pass through and pick your hair up from the root straight up and dry it like that. Just brush the hair from the root straight up, hold it like that until it's nice and dry just like that. Also, you can try using your brush and making circular motions as you dry your hair, once again at the root.

Since your hair is totally flat I suggest a perm. Not a poodle perm but a texture/body wave type perm. Use rods no smaller than purple. Anything smaller will give you actual curls. The purple or larger will give you waves and lift that you can wear either straight or wavy.

Apply the product at the roots and bolw dry in the opposite direction you want it to go, also you can curl it, or cut it into a layered above sholder bob, that will give it more volume. Try a thickening cream also.

my hair is super flat too, but when i get out of the shower i put mousse in my hair, then i blowdry it with my head upside down (so like ur hair is hanging down) but i us defuzer which also helps make your hair curly (but if u dont want curly i would reccomend a shallower defuzer) and flip your hair back up and it has just enough body!!
