They are listening but don't want to apprear to be.
2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
They need to hear too.

Check out these verses and then I'll give you a sermon illustration that might help you to understand how it applies here on Yahoo Answers.
John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
Jesus said that we are the "light of the world" in Matthew chapter 5. Have you ever found a board lying in a field with wet grass around it and picked it up. As you do you'll see all kinds of bugs madly scrambling for cover as they are exposed to the sunlight.
It's the same thing with unrepentant sinners and talking about God and quoting his Word. They get offended because they can't stand the divine light shining into their consciences and so they attempt to intimidate Christians so that they will "drop the board" and let them continue in devilish darkness.
Sad, but true :o(

When it comes to evangelising, some people don't want to hear it. Every day, most of us non-christians tend to get a christian zealot trying to force christianity down our throats and for many of us, it comes to the point where we no longer want to hear about it and can often get rude, defensive or downright hostile as a result. It's a shame that a certain few have to spoil everything for everyone else.
I'm not a christian myself, but I do accept that christians need to talk about their religion. Most of the christians I've met have been happy to discuss their beliefs on an equal footing (nobody saying that anyone else's beliefs are wrong and that their personal belief is the only way) with no self-righteous or intolerant remarks. That's what I enjoy - sharing opinions without being opinionated.

Personally, I enjoy reading all the garbage you theists post. Most of you haven't got a clue about the holy books you revere so much, and have some sort of bizarre lovey-dovey interpretation of them.
For instance, yesterday afternoon I answered a question about barren children. I believe it was your question actually. As I recall, I posted on your comments about Gods love, and gave some scriptural evidence to point out what an evil god it really is that you worship.
In particular, I mentioned God killing innocent babies during Passover. You claimed that it was the work of the Devil.
The Devil????
If we read Exodus 12:29-30, we find right there in the manuscropt that God did indeed kill innocent babies in the Passover.
"And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead."
Sounds pretty cut-and-dried to me. As far as I can tell from reading Exodus, the Devil isn't even mentioned. God is happy to claim responsibility for all the mayhem and death visited upon the Egyptians throughout the text.
In fact, as I recall it was God who hardened Pharohs heart against the Israelites. In other words, God made Pharoh keep them in slavery specifically so he could bring plagues on Egypt and wind up the whole show with his murderous finale. This "hardening Pharohs heart" business occurs before EVERY plague God visits on Egypt. This clearly indicates that if it were not for Gods interference, Pharoh would have let the Jews out of slavery 10 different times!
The Devil indeed!
Actually, the Devil/Satan/Lucifer is mentioned rarely in the Bible. Mention of him is negligable at best, but some of you insist that everything is his fault, as though that makes you less responsible to your fellow man or something. The Devil did this, the Devil did that... In almost every case that rhetoric is used, God is the actual culprit.
So, I enjoy providing a little context to your fabricated faith, which is why I'm here, and your ramblings don't offend me in the least. I will not ever tell you to shut up, or to quit preaching, but I will make it a point to bring some truth to the conversation.

some do some dont and others like BlueeNikki who answered your question in this list with calling you 'sweetie' far too many times (thats rude and a put down)--HIDE IT!
What I have seen is some people have a fear of a God judjing them they have decided that religion is evil and all they need is to focus on themselves --that would be fine but others who are around them who believe in God trouble their conscious (otherwise they would remain calm). The best example of this is the famous atheist Madeline o'hair who hated the fact she couldnt marry her exlover because of the fact he was catholic and left her feeling guilty about what he did --she then created a whole thing against saying prayer in schools because of her burning hatred//stalin was an atheist who hated religions so much he killed milions of people much more than any inquisition did!

I went from wondering i replaced into an atheist to believing in a GOD, to subscribing to faith, to examining the Bible, to looking faith fully insane, to examining the bible some better and sorting out the way it replaced into solid by ability of religious power-moguls, to believing in God. i think that God IS in the previous atoms, in the previous clouds of gasoline, in the previous 'large bang' - and after. although, I also believe that there isn't any 'in the previous and after' in/of God, as eternity can not have well timed parameters. i think that all remember, from the quark to the mountain, to the human, to the fly, is an emanation and manifestation of the "God" power. i think that what's EVERYWHEN is likewise everywhere - or somewhat, that 'at the same time as and the position' do no longer exist yet in reality in the area of remember, that's a kind of 'picture' of the 'authentic celebration'. to ascertain a photo of a celebration and ascertain from that the nature and lives of all people in the picture is a lengthy shot, and yet it does provide a glimpse of a frozen second. no human being ought to appropriately 'understand' all there is to study about the individuals, the celebration, the excuses, outcomes, etc., from a snap shot. Likewise, GOD can not be huge-spread from some thing we are able to ascertain, listen, or 'understand' by ability of our studying. to say that GOD will be defined in a e book (the bible) is fully ludicrous. each thing is GOD - and not some thing is GOD. definite, i'd agree that all-THAT-is merely exists and does no longer intrude with what we do with our minds (and bodies) - or with different individuals's minds and bodies. the outcomes we get (what we gain) isn't punishment from GOD, yet somewhat an straight forward and logical GIGO theory that all of us understand from pc programming. definite, i think in GOD - because the singular power from which each thing emanates. An power it quite is present day in both remember and non-remember. an inventive power, a loving power. An power it quite is 'embraceable' by ability of the determination of thoughts to include it. An power that embraces ME no matter if i elect to include it. An power that has no selection, no 'chosen human beings', no 'chosen faith', it quite is ALL.

We just want you to remember you're not the only religion in the world. We come here for debate, not preaching and sermons. In a debate both sides actually listen to each other and think about what their saying, but in preaching one side (or both) just says, "This is true, accept it or else" We don't have a problem with religions questions, but we hate it when people don't even ask questions and just preach and quote from the Bible and what not.

Ummm, don't generalize, sweetie. Not all non-theists "whine" or get angry. I am spiritual atheist and I don't whine about that.
'Sides, sweetie, this section is for ALL people, not just certain religions, or just for religious folk. :-)
EDIT: My apologies about the generalization comment. Go ahead and share if you wish, but don't expect everyone to agree or even listen to you. :-) Those days, I ignore all evangelizing, both off-line and online. :-)
Here, I am here mainly to learn, but not to agree with everything I read. I question and critique almost everything I read to myself.....and my mind can be highly critical of what I would "like" to believe.

I believe it's called a double standard. We must sit here and listen to them rant and rave about how there is no God and they shouldn't be forced to acknowledge that there it. Unfortunately, they are too ignorant to sit and listen to the other people's views. I am sick of having their crap shoved down my throat and told to change my life to suit them. If they are offended by other people's views then they should stay home and keep their mouths shut.

A lot of people are in the section are here to debate and discuss beliefs. I would say they are looking for opinions.
For most people, hearing that they will burn in hell for not agreeing with someone else is annoying.
I find this section amusing. There are a lot of nutty people here. Entertain me!!

Simple love, because god is real. people have been effing around with his followers for years and years. take some true alien believers, do you see them getting made fun of and pushed around? NO! If god was fake then no one would have ANY intrest, but the non-believers have a magnetic urge to screw around with us. call it satan, call it whatever, but thats how it alwas has been, and that's how it always will be
