We believe because of the constant witness of the Church, because of logic, because we have thought things through, because we have been moved by the example of Christian virtue by those who believe, because we have become convicted of the truth, because Christianity offers peace and shows the way out of hate and death and sin.
Oh and, Rome wasn't interested in crucifying crazies; crucifixion was for people who acted against the Roman state, insurectionists, and political enemies of the state. Regardless of what you think about Christ you need to read some history to know what was going on at the time and why people came to believe in Christ.
Let me suggest for starters
Josephus' "Antiquities of the Jews" and "The Wars of the Jews" which you can get for free on the net.
suetonius' Lives of the Twelve Caesars (also free)
the book "Roman Realities"
Warren Carrolls "The Founding of Christendom"

A fine point that I have tried to make in the past. Or this: Why is it acceptable that Jesus walked on water and performed other miracles, but it's not okay that the Ouija board is used? I had a friend in college that was religious and was adamantly against the Ouija because "it was supernatrual and the work of the devil." It's a game not a passage into the underworld. But Jesus turning water into wine, that was magic or supernatural. I have always liked that double standard of the crazy guy who talks to God. Thousands of years ago, when Moses "talked to God" and made the 10 comandments on Mt. Sanai, it was considered to be holy, now it's schitzophrenia.

Jesus had followers, His followers were not weak people. He picked strong individuals who would apparently doubt him. If Jesus could teach these men to believe through truth and love and His sacrifice, it should be cut and dry. Peter doubted, Thomas doubted, John the Baptist wavered in his faith. Their doubt was overcome by both the ressurrected Jesus and the filling of the Holy Spirit. Actually I would thank that guy who was shouting and hollering about Jesus as long as it was biblical. You cant be crazy and have followers willing to die and then their pupils continue the teachings even after that. A mad man dies once and his beliefs die with him. A man/God who teaches truth, well, his beliefs never die.

people believed jesus was the real deal because he exhibited signs that people believed to be prophetic, (magical) when i believe all he was doing was focusing energy and trying to show people how life should be lived, and that there will be a spiritual evolution where all will posess this "power" there is a higher power and some people are more focused on it and some cant get passed the "religion" long enough to focus on facts and science

Read the book "The Case For Christ". It will help with these questions. It was written by Lee Stroble. He was a lawyer that tried to disprove Christ and ended up believing.
