I don't consider myself lucky to be here. Life is what it is and I don't question my existence, I just simply exist. Someday I will die and then I will no longer exist. There is no divine reason for being alive. Just try to get through without hurting people along the way and don't be too much of an asshole if you can help it.

Rather, I feel as if we were forced to be here, and some others will agree. I mean, abused children, poor, or starving are probably wishing that "lucky" sperm and egg didn't exist or even come within the same ZIP code as each other.
Even I sometimes ask, "Why me?" Then I answer my own question. "Why not?"
What if we are simply a figment of someone's imagination? Or what if we are simply a dream? Why were we put here?
I think I am becoming athiest. I won't be outlawing Christmas any time soon or anything, but I think that the image of God is overrated these days. We put an image in our heads that he's a man (or woman) that's glowing and in white clothes. Then we plop that on top of a Christmas tree and get what we want? I don't think so.
So why were we put here? What purpose do WE, ourselves, serve? We are destroying creatures, demolishing this scarce, beautiful land we have, then ask for forgiveness for our sins. That doesn't really seem fair. E-mail me, and we can talk about this.

Prophecy
In that day . . . I will make the sun go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in broad daylight (NKJV). Amos 8:9
Fulfillment
From the sixth hour [noon] until the ninth hour [3 pm] there was darkness over all the land (NKJV). Matt. 27:45
Comment
What a remarkable prophecy! The sun will darken at noon during broad daylight. Amos predicted this somewhere between 760 and 753 B.C. The sky would darken and it did happen during Jesus' death.
Not only do the gospels say it actually happened but secular scientists and historians knew it occurred and sought a natural physical explanation. This is a significant prophecy.

Sometimes, yeah. But sometimes I figure this body is so badly trashed it may be getting on for time to trade it in on a new model. But your point is well taken: we are indeed lucky to be well enough off to have a computer and be able to communicate with one another. Although in fact I suspect some users are homeless people using a library computer or some such. Still, it's lucky to live in a community which provides that level of opportunity to its homeless population.

I will never forget when I was in RN school almost 25 years ago and really learned the true facts of how a human is formed, and I was astounded at how lucky we all are to be here. More people should spend some time learning and appreciating as you suggest instead of complaining and wanting more. Good point.

That's hard to say only because we already are here, and the fact that we are here is pretty much all that matters, really. Do I feel lucky because of it? Well, I don't know. Had I not been here, would I have felt unlucky? Well, obviously enough, since I'm not here, then I wouldn't exist so neither would my feelings.

I do feel lucky to be alive, but I also find comfort in knowing that someone took out time and thought just of me. Then has prepared a place just for me in Heaven. Just for me. Call me selfish, but I love it.

Lucky, no.
Blessed, yes. I feel blessed by God to be alive. This is something that we should thank Him for each and every day.
