I'm just curious cause I talk to a person who is Christian on IM and asked if she would read any atheist or evolutionist websites or books, just to get information, and she said no she never would. I'm curious if this is cause shes just a young person and no one told her it was ok to do this, or if no one ever will tell her its ok.

Since I'm an agnostic, and an evolutionist, I read the BIble and the Qu'ran, but have no intention of becoming a Christian or a Muslim, but still read these books.

I also read books about religion. I read a book that talked about problems with the New Testement and how its been changed through the centuries. I read a book that talks about the problems with the Qu'ran and modern day Islam.

I read all kinds of books and not just on religion. koran, book of mormon, doctrine of JW's, other christian books. Read some for entertainment, Louis Lamour, Tom Clancy, all different kinds of books on different themes. I stay away from porn and bad language as much as possible, but I do read. So fast that I can't find anything to read. I learned to read when I lived on a sailboat for 20 years. No TV.

Yes, I read all sorts of books. Here is a list of books I have recently read:
all the Dan Brown books (I think he's an excellent storyteller, and Christians shouldn't be afraid of reading The DaVinci Code. You don't have to believe it to appreciate it)
Digital Fortress
Angels and Demons
Deception Point
The Historian
Empire Falls
Lonesome Dove
Middlesex
The Known World
A Woman Rides the Beast
Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood
Four Weeks to a Better Behaved Child
The Keepers of the House
The Power of a Praying Wife
National Geographic

Reading is why I get up in the morning! (Well, that and the fact that I am the family taxi service!LOL) In the last 30 days I have read:
Maximum Ride by James Patterson
What Does The Bible Really Teach put out by Jehovah's Witness'
Beautiful Child by Torey Hayden
Green River Running Red by Ann Rule and
The Book of Mormon that two young men on Mission gave to me. Just about the only topic that doesn't interest me is science fiction. I have folks from my congregation who look askance at my choice of reading material, but I need knowledge to make a knowledgable decision about anything. I can discard anything I find to be offensive, and that's that !

BTW, I guess I ought to add that this is in addition to the regular Bible reading and studying I do, but I understood your q to be about any OTHER reading we might indulge in.

It's great that you are exploring your faith. God expects us to ask questions and is not insulted, as some may think, if we do. I hope your bible reading some day leads you to giving your life to Christ. There are many who try and discount the bible, but it is the most proven historical document ever. Many have tried to disprove of it and it's facts, only to find the truth and be convinced themselves. Read The Case For Christ by Lee Stobel. He too was agnostic and tried to disprove the bible the same way a lawyer would, but he was converted to Christianity in doing so.

i haven't read any books, other than the Bible, in a long time.i prefer to answer your questions, and read articles online.i think the best way to secure ones beliefs is to ask, and answer questions.as a Christian,my Bible will always guide my path.i will always follow God's principles set forth within it.however, growth in ones mind cannot be made by reading God's word alone.how can a soldier wander into battle without having a grasp on his enemies ways.can a cook make a five star meal without consulting the patrons wishes?no, of course not,so it is with growing in ones faith.books have limitations, ideas grow from the manifestations of Bible study.questions such as yours, help Christians to challenge ones belief.in other words,a lawyer does not become a good lawyer by reading his law books alone, but trial after trial strengthen his knowledge and debate fosters reproofing ones ideas.of course,as Christians we are not to engage in interactions with non-Christians, because we may be led astray from our path.i do not agree with this hypothesis,as stated earlier, debate fosters reproofing ones ideas about faith.
God Bless

I just finished a book entitled "Brother Word" which was excellent and for my classes I have read two on Plato and Aquinas (which contradicts the majority of what I believe). I read other books besides the "religious" ones but I also understand that what I take in is what comes out of me eventually.

I have read all sorts of religous books. I have read about all of the denominations (to find the right one for me.) I have even read wiccan books and I looked at some of the Necronomican. Not that I believe it has any real power or substance. I think someone who is not willing to look outside the box should have never gotten in it.

I read lots of books. Mostly about religion, but I also enjoy novels and true crime. My interest in books goes from one end of the spectrum to the other. It just depends on what interests me at the time.
