We have had them for a long time. Other than Japan we have never used them. If we are threatened & believe someone will use their bombs, we will use them but so far we have been willing to lose thousands of troops when we a bomb would have fixed the problem. What more proof do they need. Is Iraq still there, only because this Soldiers Mom does not have control of the button.

The Kyoto agreement would have crippled the U.S. economy. Too many countries would have gotten a free pass, while the changes we would have required of our companies, would have bankrupted many of them. And, keep in mind that there is not one shred of true evidence that the changes would have had any effect to reverse global warming.
The UN is a do nothing organization that was neck deep in the Iraq food for oil scandal. They made numerous resolutions related to Iraq, yet enforced none of them, and whined when the USA took the initiative to enforce them.
And, don't believe for a minute we won't use nukes. If some country lauched, or detonated nukes against the U.S. or on U.S. soil, that country would cease to be inhabitable almost immediately. Most countries with dictatorships and illegal regimes would love to have Nukes so that they could hold the world, or neigboring countries hostage to their beliefs and demands. No country in the world believes the U.S. is a threat to misuse nuclear weapons, but many are jealous that we are the only remaining super power in the world, and we do get to call the shots in many instances.

I can't say that we won't use them and I completely understand other countries being worried that we might also.
Unfortunately I think the most damaging thing that is going to come out of Bush's unprovoked invasion of Iraq is going to be another Cold War.
And it would be justified from what I see. Bush goes on national tv and states a list of countries that he considers within his idea of an 'axis of evil' then he proceeds to invade Iraq. I mean seriously... do you blame those countries for now wanting to gain nuclear power/weapons after hearing/seeing that?
N.Korea should be of the most concern because they, unlike Iran, were the ones who said, '... oh hell noooo, we ain't going sit here for this....' and then they proceeded to resign from their NPT agreement.

The political, humanitarian, financial, and environmental consequences of using nuclear weapons is enough to make the US to think hard before using them. Hence we haven't used them since WWII. But if the World know that we won't use them then what good are they? It is good for the World the think that we might use them that is what makes them such a good diplomacy tool.

What's the question?
Don't forget the ole' 'cold war' quote:
'In order to keep peace, the Russians must believe I'm a little bit crazy'
Ok, that's not the exact quote, but I don't remember it so I paraphrased.
