The same reason why people make fun of deaf people, or people with disabilities. The world is a cruel place and the people are crueler.
They might have a grudge for God not helping them. Or they may just be seeking attention. Or possibly they didn't believe in God.

I was once like that. So, I don't think it's that. Many are very true to whatever they believe and very educated. In fact, they try to make sense and find contradictions with the Bible and with people who claim to be religious. Any contradiction will be enough to make their truth shine above others.
Finding contradiction in others to justify your own beliefs is very easy. Finding similarities among you and others with the intent to love, accept and tolerate others is not so easy.

its for the same reason they would make fun of any body or anything else, they don't feel good about themselves and it makes them feel better to put others down, they are infact small people themselves and don't have the capacity to think for on their own

the answer is simply because....we're human....it was said...if god were human(which he is inna sense)....we, his own creation would slaughter him....we are very far from perfect....the only way to cleanse ourselves is to get him to fogive us of sin
