Most cultures of the world believe in reincarnation. They teach that the "soul" will live on and be reborn in a new body after death. Most Christian and Muslim teachings disregard this in favor of a "spiritual afterlife" (Heaven and/or Hell) and many Atheists choose to believe that death is the end of all conciousness.
But there is evidence and a growing body of research indicating that reincarnation is the reality. In any case, there's a lot more evidence to back the concept of reincarnation than there is the idea of Heaven and Hell. The old stories of Hell tend to be what scare people about death, but there is zero evidence in there actually being such a place. Personally, as a mother, I find the idea that a "parent" could ever condemn his or her children to eternal torture to be beyond ridiculous. I wouldn't give it a moment of worry.
And, if the Atheists are right, we'll just wink out like a light. No big deal.
Live well and be not afraid. Fearing death will end up reducing your enjoyment of life, and where's the sense in that?

I do believe you are serious, in which case I am going to give you my serious opinion! (which is really good of me, because I don't usually do that)!!
I have been an atheist for many many years now, I did at one time consider the meaning of death, the concept of heaven or hell , sitting on the right hand of God etc etc.
That really is enough to scare the crap out of anyone, I agree with you.
However as I no longer believe in all that crap, I had to re- assess my conception of death and the life here after!!
Now for what it's worth I really believe that when we die we sleep a deep and dreamless sleep in other words oblivion !! That is not so hard to believe is it??
It's certainly a much more realistic proposition than the heaven or hell idea don't you think?
If you could bring yourself to follow my train of thought, you would have no problem when it comes to 'snuff it ' time! Except of course having to leave your nearest and dearest, but if they all felt the same way, that you were just going into a deep and peaceful sleep, they wouldn't feel so bad would they?
However hang on a bit longer you may have a few years left yet so make the best of them!!

No one knows for sure. There are many different theories. Here is the best suggestion. Don't worry about it. You can't control the possibility of the afterlife. All you can do is live your life. Just live it to the fullest. I also personally think having a personal relationship with God helps, but that works for me and may not work for you.
Don't worry about the things you can't change or stop. We'll all die at some time, and when that happens, we'll find out what is after life and death.

First let me tell you that there is nothing to be scared about in death, and yes there is an afterlife, some call in heaven, some just call it Paradise.
What i can tell you is it's better there than here, I know some will say that what I am going to say is in many films, but I can tell you because I have been there.
When the time comes you will be met by someone, sometimes a family member that has all ready passed, they will be ready for you.
You will see such things of greatness, you will feel love like you have never felt, you will never feel alone, and you'll never feel hurt when the time comes you may feel sad because of leaving your loved ones behind.
I have told my family there not to wear black, and be sad because i will be OK and will be back to visit.
Love God, and have faith in him.
Love & Peace

I believe there is an afterlife. I believe there is different dimensions even in this life, you are able to astral travel(out of body experience) to the 5th dimension which is the astral plane through meditation. I have only done this 3 times in my whole life, some people find it easier to do though. But as I was floating around above my bed seeing my body still sleeping I knew that there was more to the universe than the material world, there is an inifinite universe, with infinite possibilities and for all we know, infinite dimensions.

Worry about death when you die. Worry about life when you live.
If there is an afterlife and you do go to the general heaven everyone has in mind, you will feel like a jackass for spending your life afraid of what is there.
If there isn't an afterlife and you just plain rot into nothingness, then really there isn't anything to fear because you can't carry that emotion.

depends on what you believe in.
If you believe in ghosts, which I see no reason not to since there is so much evidence, then you should believe in there being an afterlife. Although in other religions they believe in being reincarnated into which you come back as another person or animal with no memory of your past life.
I see no reason for you to fear death, since ghosts, or spirits, want so much to "move on" and they are obviously comfortable with it.
Just think of it as a mystery... I don't believe that once you die that's it, it's all gone, I believe you may get a second chance.

I used to be afraid of dying too, until I had an experience that showed me what the afterlife is like. (Yes it's possible I was shown a lie, but I choose to believe what I believe anyway. That's what faith is about.)
I believe that when we die, the afterlife is like whatever our religious beliefs tell us it'll be like. Christians might see angels playing harps, Muslims might see...well, whatever their religion says heaven is like. I personally think angels playing harps would be kinda boring, so I'd probably see people playing games and making really cool colored artwork out of thin air, or something similar.
This also means that if you believe you deserve to go to hell, your afterlife will contain a bunch of screaming twisted things or whatever you think hell would be like.
Thus, several souls hanging out in the same "place" (for lack of a better term) may each see it differently. (This isn't so farfetched when you realize that we each see the world differently based on our experiences and personalities.) It's possible to see it however you want to see it, so if you wanted to you could get a taste of what someone else's afterlife looked like.
I believe that in the afterlife, we know things that we don't know when we're alive. I also believe in reincarnation, and that with the enhanced knowledge we have in the afterlife, we choose who/what to be reincarnated as, based on what we need to learn/experience/fix about ourselves. So one of the reasons the afterlife is so cool is that we have access to our whole soul there, instead of being limited by a human body. (Or animal body, for that matter. I believe all souls are the same, regardless of what kind of being they're in. But when we're alive, we have to deal with the limitations of whatever kind of being we are, and for lack of a better metaphor, more of your soul will fit in a human than in a dog, for instance.) When we're alive we're not supposed to know about our past lives, because the object is to learn NEW stuff, and our past life experiences would basically be a cheat sheet.
Anyway, that's what I believe. You can believe whatever you want to. :)

Only in as much as your body, like all matter, will decay and become part of the earth again. You won't exist to have an afterlife. It's not something some people wish to hear, why do you think man created God?

Yes there is!
Our soul is eternal, when we leave this physicality our spiritual energy passes over to a place that is more beautiful, peaceful and pure, than anything we can comprehend on this plane.
I have had a near death experience and this is something I found out for myself!
Stop worrying and enjoy life to the full, with joy and happiness!
