recently i answered a question about barreness and said that it was the devils work and that the Lord could heal the person. i was not saying that it was there fault and that they were being punished.. of course not! some people took it the wrong way. i was simply saying that God does not put barreness and sickness on people at all, the devil does.
as a parent of all mankind, what kind of Father puts bad stuff on there kids...even us as humans dont do that! God CAN teach you something through a bad situation or sickness, but He sure isnt the one who put it on you in the first place...God is LOVE...the bible says so, so why would Love's will be sickness/barrenness etc?! its completely ridiculous when u put two and two together... some people just dont know God.
thoughts? views? do fellow Christians agree?

God put barreness on nobody, He simply stated what would happen in certain situations, as He is all knowing. and the barren women were from the old testament before Jesus died for all that anyways.
Will: the chastisement in this scripture is talking about people persecuting you, not physical chastisement... Jesus died for sins AND sickness so we dont have to go thru it..if he was gonna make us sick anyway, He may as well have not died for it.. makes for a fantastic bible study, enjoy!

AC28: the devil cant "punish you" so to speak, but the bible very clearly states that he is the ruler of this world and that he comes only to steal, kill and destroy, thats what he does... not God. read ur bible,
also, yes, when u love someone u wana be with them, but if God wanted u in heaven He wouldnt have to shove cancer on you to do it.. He is GOD, He could just take u peacefully. and besides... He IS with us.. Holy Spirit inside of us, remember? God doesnt put stuff on us just to teach us something! He can teach us something without going against His own covenant and hurting us.. He can simply TELL us.
read ur bible, ask God to show you the truth, youve obviously been taught in an unbiblical church, God bless u on your journey to truth

SADDIST DAVE:
no, God didnt kill those children in passover, neither did He kill anyone else. the egyptians had as much a chance as the jews, He offered the same doorpost solution... He warned of what was coming (the devil was having a feild day coz the unbelieving, false god worshippers had invited him to by denying God) and God knew everything that the devil was gonna do, so, He warned, and gave a way out. even the King James Version isnt as accurate as it should be in its phrasing, but i suggest reading these things from at least that version if u cant read hebrew. God IS LOVE. He does not ever kill. He warns of what will come upon you if you deny Him. the devil had your own permission, not Gods.

I completely agree. There are people who are given the best love and parenting that their mothers and fathers can possibly provide -- and yet end up wrecking their own lives anyway. There are no guarantees.
Likewise with God. We can have no more perfect a Father -- yet we obviously screw ourselves up more often than we'd care to imagine. It's not His fault.

What kind of a father kills one child to forgive another? I find the idea that a man had to die for my sins repulsive. Surely an all powerful deity could simply forgive me for my sins without having to subject his own son to torture and a horrible death.
You say God is love. Why don't you ask a Midianite about Gods love. You can't, because your loving God had them all killed...
Think of the passover. Your loving god supposedly murdered the first born son of every Egyptian just to prove a point. That includes innocent babies. Better still, read 1 Samuel 15:3. God commands the death of helpless "suckling" infants. This literally means that the children God killed were still nursing.
Do you really expect me to worship a child killer?
Read Numbers 31 sometime. God instructs his followers to destroy a village and spare only the virginal woman. Moses and his men rape them. Is this the act of a kind and loving god?
I believe you need to re-evaluate your beliefs and re-think your code of ethics. If you really want to see the Devils work, start at Genesis, and read all the way through to Revelations.
As for the rest of your feel good fantasy religion, I leave you with this. Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."
-SD-
I beg to differ with you about Gods role in killing innocent children at the passover. Read Exodus 12:29
"And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle."
I would e-mail this to you, so you can check it out in the Bible of your choice, but it seems your e-mail addy is unconfirmed through Yahoo Answers....

It never ceases to amaze me how intelligent people can believe in Satan or the devil. Many don't know the origin of Satan and how the "myth" of the evil one began. For one thing, there is no such thing as Satan or the devil, he is a myth concocted by the Christian Church in thee early 4th century to force pagans ( those living outside the town or village areas) to convert to their way of thinking and the Christian beliefs. Many continue to believe in this entity even though we are supposed to be so much more mentally advanced than we were back then. It never fails to make me groan the gullibility of the human race after so many years of education and scientific advancements. The reason someone is barren is not because of the devil. It could be that they are allergic to each other. This I know can happen as this has happened to me. Blame God or the devil if it makes you feel better but it's no one elses fault but human nature and genetics. If God is so loving and great why does he allow suffering to continue or why does he allow bad things to happen to good people? Also how can you prove that god does exist and show proof to others of this existence? As for Jesus, where are the bones or artifacts of the Son of God? Where is there any proof found in all the archaeological digs that show irrefutable proof that Jesus existed at all? I am now posing this question to all who wish to answer.

Yes, so many Christians blame God for their illness and bad situations, but in reality they do it to themselves. The question is, who are we letting guide us, the Holy Spirit or self with the help of the devil? But God will turn a bad situation into something good. God will use what the devil has done and change it to good, that will show the glory of God who is unconditional love. Jesus has come to destroy the works of the devil. Amen!

There are several examples in the Old Testament where God made a woman barren.
Mmm hmm... saw that coming. God never changes according to the Bible. Jesus died to pay for sin. Now read Gen. 30:2 KJV -
"And Jacob's anger was aroused against Rachel, and he said, "Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of your womb."
That's just one example. You DID ask for the opinions of others, did you not? Or, were you really looking for validation of your own opinion?

I don't think you can always point to the Devil when a woman is barren. I would look more at these passages as a likely cause.
Genesis 30:1 When Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, she envied her sister. She said to Jacob, "Give me children, or I shall die!" 2 Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel, and he said, "Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?" 3 Then she said, "Here is my servant Bilhah; go in to her, so that she may give birth on my behalf, that even I may have children through her." 4 So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife, and Jacob went in to her. 5 And Bilhah conceived and bore Jacob a son. 6 Then Rachel said, "God has judged me, and has also heard my voice and given me a son." Therefore she called his name Dan. 7 Rachel's servant Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son. 8 Then Rachel said, "With mighty wrestlings I have wrestled with my sister and have prevailed." So she called his name Naphtali.
Genesis 30:22 Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb.
James 4:1 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? 2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
Psalms 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.
In other words, people don't have children because they don't pray for them or because they have wrong motives when they pray or they are barren for a time because for reasons known only to God, He is testing them or making them wait or it's not in his will for them to have a child, at least at this time in their life.

Well, first, I am a Christian. 2nd I disagree w/ you.
Heres why:
God is love. When you love someone, the thing you want to do most is be w/ them. Right?? So, sometimes God puts us through hard situations so that we can get closer to Him. It usually works. When a person gets cancer, they get closer to God b/c they know they are about to die. Plus, why does it matter? If you die of some sickness isn't it better if you're w/ Christ in the end??
Also, the devil is not your father unless you want him to be. So he can't punish you.

Actually the Jehovah's Witnessess have a really interesting take on this. While some interpret the devil ruling below to mean in Hell, they believe "below" refers to Earth, that is, the devil is in charge here. So the only reason life isn't a TOTAL hell is because god manages to make a few good things happen in spite of the devil's rule.

1 corinthians 10:13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
