Yes, as long as what you are praying and fasting for is in accordance with the will of God.

Check out the Bible story in Matthew 17:14-21.

In my own life, I have experienced the power of fasting to help me overcome a temptation I could not overcome with prayer alone. I am very grateful that I learned this principle.

I don't think there's really anything that you can do to "help" your prayers get answered. God answers prayers according to what His will is. Fasting or church involvement or giving to the poor or whatever aren't going to change God's will or give you "brownie points." A sincere prayer is probably more likely to be answered than an unsincere one, but other than that I don't think there's anything we can do to convince God to answer a prayer that He doesn't see fit to answer. I've always seen fasting not as a way to get prayers answered, but a way to take some of your focus off earthly things (ie food) and dedicate that attention to God instead. It's a way to grow spiritually.

i think it's more in the conviction that you approach the prayer with....i don't know that fasting will help, you just gotta sincerely believe your prayer will be answered...and then, this is probably the most important: DON'T confuse no action on the part of God with God saying no....remember sometimes he just wants you to wait.....

Probably not, but fasting cleanses the body of toxins.

I don't believe it does. Are your prayers more worthwhile because you sacrifice? Seems a bit specious.
