I have been searching and searching for this recipe since I was in school! and that's been a while. I would love to make some at home but can't seem to find it anywhere? does anyone know what i am talking about? The layer of ham, cheese, bread, sprinkled with parsley on top?!?! I don't know for how long it's been on the menu but i know i was in Junior High school about 10 yrs ago when i first tried it!

I used to cook for a fairly large preschool, and this is the recipe I used.

Stromboli

1/2-3/4 lb ground beef
1 can Pillsbury Pizza Crust
1/4-1/2 cp spaghetti sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese, either mozzarella or Cheddar or a mix
1/4 cp chopped green/red peppers and/or onions
some Italian seasoning
Parmesan cheese, grated

Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. Heat oven to 400.

Brown ground beef, peppers and onions, drain.

Unroll dough, spread on cookie sheet to form a rectangle, 12x8. Spread sauce on dough to about 1 inch from sides.

Place meat mixture down center of dough lengthwise, topped with cheese and peppers. Fold lengthwise and pinch edges to seal.

Bake for about 15 min until top turns brown. Let cool and cut into about 6-8 slices. Use extra sauce for dipping .

You can always switch out the meats, this was just the kids fav.
Good luck!

School Stromboli

My school has healthy choices and it has unhealthy choices; usually the hot-lunch is made up of a balanced meal (although not always healthy). The usual "junk food" is always available, consisting of burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, bosco sticks and pizza, and the usual healthy stuff, such as salads, wraps, fruit, and sandwiches. Overall, I think it's not what the school serves, it's what we choose to eat!
