Call your local gym and ask them. I had my daughter in a Parent and Tot class this past year that had kids from 16 months old to 3 years old. As a 3 year old she loved it, and is now looking forward to a big girl class without me. It make me feel better to give her time to adjust to the teachers and now I know she'll do great this fall with me out of the room.

I would say when you think she is ready. I started my daughter at 14 months old in an age appropriate setting. Try www.littlegym.com or www.gymboree.com to see if there are classes in your area. There may be something similar at a local rec center or YMCA that would be just as good. Most classes for children that age are not as structured and are good overall for their social and development skills. It doesn't have to be technical gymnastics for them to learn something and enjoy it. Even at a young age (under 2) children can start learning how to do head rolls and walk a balance beam. Even running around on the mats is plenty fun for my daughter. I encourage you to give a class a try!

Usually each gym has a set age limit usually before the age of 3 it is more of a Mommy and Me type of class. My daughter started at 3 and now she is dancing at 4

I started my daughter when she was 2 1/2. She is now almost 7 and has competed in state and regional competitions. She recently went to San Antonio TX for regionals and finished 3rd overall. I think it depends alot on the child.

They have classes for 3 year olds. She'll love it. You really can't start them too young. The sooner you get kids active, the better chance they have to be healthy for life.

Basically once they are potty trained and are ready to listen. I work at a daycare and any younger than three they simply don't have the attention span or the motor skills.
