first put a nest box in each cage,,provide shedds of paper,,small pieces of yarn..remmants of fabric etc....then leave them alone. once you notice the first egg,,do not touch the nest box.let them be..while they're busy with laying eggs and after the eggs hatch,,provide hard boiled eggs,,smashed and cooled down in a small bowl for the parent birds. nature will take its course. be prepared if a baby bird is born deformed or sickly,,you have to get rid of it,,,,and the best advice of all,,,make sure the male and female are the SAME color... a green parakeet will not be attracted to a blue one. good luck.

Parakeets are very easy to breed. Give them an appropriate nest box with clean wood shaveing (not cedar) a good diet concisting of a lot of greens and some peace and quiet (privacy). Don't bother them to much by always looking into the nest. Once the hen begins laying her eggs, about 16 to 20 days after the first is laid...you will have chicks. Try to feed the parent smashed up egg yolk (cooked) but not all will eat it. If they do, great! Good luck :-)

first I would buy some books or go to the library and do some research on nesting. You will need a nest for each cage and some nesting material dropped at the bottom of the cage and they will add to their nest. Sometimes they will not lay any eggs if they are not compatible and not like each other.

its best to quarintine any new birds regardless of source. Quarintine in a differant room and do not cross contaminate by handling females then handling males. Most avian specialists recommend 60- day period. Also after quarintine it is best to allow females to reside in a cage near or next to males to allow them to become aquainted before placing them into cages together.

Remember with parakeets they choose their mate, they may not like the one you choose for them. I would put them all in the same cage together and see who pairs off or even if they will.
