My preference is a mid week nonstop flight on Alaska Airlines From LAX into DCA (Regan National) and it usually costs less than $250 rt.
Otherwise I fly midday mid week from LAX to IAD (Dulles) on American for about $370 nonstop.
The nonstop is important to me. Otherwise, try Southwest.
