Is God constrained by rules? IF God were pure goodness, isn't that a rule?
God has constrained Himself to His Word. What God has promised it shall come to pass.
God will not Violate your free will regardless of how bad it may be. in fact God Say's I set before you Life & Death, Choose Life.
God not only gives us a choice He advises us to make the Good choice, while fully respecting our bad ones.

God made all the rules in the Bible. He is not constrained by them. But He follows them to set an example for us.

God never claimed to be "pure goodness", at least not in terms that you're thinking. He claims to be just, merciful, vengeful, a consuming fire, loving, and so much more. Unlike humans, He is multi-faceted and can be loving, just and vengeful all at once. Often times, God will do something that seems entirely harsh at the time, but when you look at it over the broad spectrum of time, it is very loving. We can't judge God because we are very finite and temperary beings.

Well by his own rules yes, but who is to say he cannot break them?
But since God is the same yesterday today and forever he will not.
You can call it a restriction if you want.

Goodness isn't a rule, it's a way of being or a way of nature.

Yes, I know what you are talking about. I believe there are rules that God won't break. He won't sin, for example.
