It's a complacent, lazy attitude that has gripped society. Many are called, few are chosen to take on this task of being social and politically responsible. Living in today's dog eat dog world, and as the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". It's too much of "I'm out to get mine, so who cares for the average joe., let me make my money and mind my own business." Many americans see the corruptness, but tend to turn the other way and pretend it doesn't exsist but later after a hard day's work go to the local bar during happy hour and b & moan about our government and society. Pretty soon we will learn our lesson taken from once "superpower countries" such as the Roman Empire, former USSR and Communist China. The USA will soon repeat and reap the same disasters that fell upon the once "Titanic" nations who once arrogantly claimed in more words or less, "We are so big, successful and powerful that nothing can bring us down." For the USA...the clock is ticking...T-minus 10, 9, 8,....

The Bush Administration has admitted spying on Americans, and is infamous for seeking revenge against those who disagree with them openly. The Valerie Plame affair, for example, was a secret plan to silence Mr. Wilson, her husband, who openly pointed out an untruth told by Bush during the State of the Union speech on National TV.
So folks are scared to ask question or even be noticed by White House agents or Republicans in general. (The only reason I openly disagree with Bush's tactics is that I am way past angry) I believe our Country has some greatness left to live, but that greatness will not happen under G. Bush or those who act or think like him.

What is it you're upset about, exactly, that you feel it's necessary to 'speak out'...and, a lot of people do more than talk, which makes you feel better, but doesn't really accomplish much, lets you vent, but that's about it, but they get out in their communities and VOLUNTEER, they run petition drives, they write lots n lots of letters, they just do it politely, without the whole torches-n-pitchforks thing, that's sooooo 18th century, if you think about it,
and is generally frowned on these days as 'disturbing the peace'.
Write your city council, write your Congressman, call in on your radio station, make your voice heard. Start a 'Blog, participate in online forums, write a letter to the editor, make your opinions and feelings on matters known. Others are doing so, don't be afraid to join in the fun! LOL

Many have tried in the past two elections but those voices were silenced by election fraud, polls too jammed up to vote, votes not being counted, etc. Apathy sets in at some point when you try and try but nothing ever comes of it. 2008 isn't that far away and there are some great groups out there (like moveon.org) still fighting the good fight!

You need to read more, listen to the radio, and watch C-SPAN & cable news--people, as always, are raising hell pretty much about everything.
Unfortunately, they also seem unwilling to go the polls and vote the bums out; that is, vote anti-incumbent. So, much of it ends up being wasted breath.

I agree!
That's exactly why the Bush Admin. created the Patriot Act. So people would be discouraged to speak out in dissent!

Because they are scared that someone may hurt them, for what they believe in, although it's against the law to hurt them, and by all means they can express their feelings, no one does! Whay don't you start a movement in your school or community, it will surely spread.
