I don't celebrate Christmas or Easter. These are pagan holidays and are not biblical. I do celebrate resurrection Sunday. I went to Houghton College and a speaker in chapel said it was heresy not to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Thanks for a thoughtful question!

It seems interesting to compare this questioner's spiritual state to that of the Ethiopian who spoke with Philip. He had 99% of the truth, but needed to resolve just a few details before he could dedicate himself to true Christianity.

Please consider having a regular bible study with a Jehovah's Witness in your area, or at least reading JW literature to see if you feel that it may represent the bible accurately. You may end up with a increased appreciation for Jehovah's Witnesses' unadulterated true worship and biblical foundations.

(Acts 8:34) In answer the eunuch said to Philip: “I beg you, About whom does the prophet say this? About himself or about some other man?”

I don't do Christmas or Easter. There is no authority in God's word granting such celebration for Christians. I do the Lord's Supper in a remembrance of Christ dying for the sins of the entire world, but it is not a celebration, it is a Remembrance. There is nothing I see wrong with celebrating Christmas or Easter if that is time when you get together with family, share gifts and love with each other. That should be done everyday if possible, but taking a few days out of the year and setting them aside for that is not bad. The speaker at the college, should be told that the birth of Jesus Christ, is not as important a celebration as we should be getting ready to celebrate his return. Visit a Church of Christ in your area they will have information about the Biblical Authority for such celebrations. They are not a denominational church and the Bible does say that it is Christ's Church. I hope this helps,
God Bless You

My ex-s brother and his wife dont.

They dont think they are pagan (wich historically they arent. They were introduced to coincide with Paganism so they had kind of another option of worship to disrupt the Pagan holidays. Thats the same reason for Thanksgiving. Pagans countered ALL Saints day with Halloween, think of it as a struggle all that time ago, to see wich holiday was better) but they do believe the holidays detract from the real focus, wich is Jesus, so they dont give gift, or hunt eggs, but rather give the day to God, in their terms.

Its not heresy to not celebrate them. Lets be honest, do they REALLY believe December 25th was Jesus' birthday. For all we know, it could be today. It is just an adopted date, nothing more.

I am JW, but I wanted to share this with ya. I was checking out at a store one afternoon in Dec. and the clerk said Merry Christmas.I explained my religious beliefs about it, and she had a thoughtful expression on her face as I left. A few weeks later I went in again, through her line, and she couldn't wait to tell me that she had told her pastor about my reasoning on the holiday and why, and they, as a congregation, looked it all up, and decided as a congregation, to not celebrate Christmas or Easter. All it takes is an honest heart and some research!

Never heard of JW's before getting on answers
But looked up there website. They are chiristians, There whole thing is worship of Jesus Christ. I had read the bible thru and thru and They know their bible. Also, found out that God's name is Jehovah. That's a fact. So why does everyone slam them on here. Seen the require thing, sounds pretty good.
Anyway it makes more sense than anything else i ve seen on here

First, the JW are not Christians. They are a sect of Christianity.

But there are indeed some Christians who don't celebrate it. Namely the Messianic Jews.

I think if you (or they) do the research, Jesus wasn't born on December 25th anyhow and you are right, those holidays are based off of pagan rituals.

Yes, my sister does not. It's all meat sacrificed to idols to me. Personally, I like to eat the good meat. The idols are nothing.
