With the exception of Paul, no. I think they were perhaps making something more than what it was, but not necessarily lying intentionally. Chances are that, like most ghost stories, they saw something they could not explain, and used their experiences and grief to explain it.

Whether it was already an accepted pattern or not, I cannot say, but historically, ghost sightings follow two primary story lines. The ghost is someone well loved that dies tragically, or someone feared and believed to be powerful in life. Certainly Jesus was all these things to his minions.

Paul on the other hand was certainly a liar and an opportunist. He clearly had an agenda, and took every opportunity to further his own causes. He writes two conflicting accounts of his own Jesus sighting.

When you read on the internet that someone witnessed something bizarre do you necessarily believe it. It might be a number of things going on, including that someone put the words down on paper that were never true. I'm not saying that is the case but it is certainly a possibility. Another is that like UFOs people in a stressed or even delusional state may believe they saw something that was a product of their mind. I think it is very strange that Paul (from whom we get the earliest Christian writings) doesn't seem to know a lot of the details of miracles ,events, and actions from Jesus's life that we get from later Christian writings, it definetly seems to me that the story evolved. I don't trust in the inerrancy of the Bible. Many authors over hundreds of years in the case of the new testament, thousands in case of old testament. Many biblical scholars have questions about additions, forgeries and actual authorship.

Definitely not! That is evidenced by the fact that all His disciples, except one, died a gruesome death. Peter watched his wife be crucified and then asked if he could be crucified upside down for he didnt deserve to die like Christ. A lie will not cause you to want to die in such a way as the disciples did. Even Jesus' brother James who did not believe was found starting churches and spreading the faith and dieing for Jesus as a martyr. Liars buckle and fold when they are presented with the consequences of their lies. The truth stands strong in the midst of adversity.

It may have been Jesus' spirit, speaking through another person, that the apostles "recognized". Around that time it was said that a white man walked among the Mayan Indians. Maybe his spirit shone through here also.

No, I believe they didn't exist. Let me ask you: Do you believe the thousands of eye witnnesses who saw Luke Skywalker get his medal in Episode IV were lying, and if they were not lying Then is that proof of the Force?

NO! You just said it yourself,"the people that saw Jesus alive." That proves that you believe (acknowledge) the resurrection of the Savior.

no,
in fact a great historian, wrote about seeing Jesus AFTER his death, along with about 500 other people who had been dead many years before. this historian was NOT a Christian and never claimed to be one. he simply wrote the account of everything that he personally saw. read the writings of Josephus.

it only takes a few sources for us to believe somthign and print it in our school textbooks. I'm just wondering why it is soo hard for people to believe in Jesus Christ with all the thousands of testimonies to his death burial and ressurection. One more thing, think of all of those thousands of people who suffered and gave up everything for the cause of Jesus...would they do that for a lie that they were making up?

You make the bible sound like an actual history book. It is a story book, a work of fiction, no history involved. Understand that and the bible makes much more sense.
