I guess we'll soon find out won't we, the US mobilized its missile defense system today (June 20)ahead of schedule. It was in reasearch and development up until today.

Actually, although others posted that we do not, we have a missile defense program, otherwise known as 'Star Wars' that was an idea of President Reagan. President Bush (2) started the project again, despite a huge number of countries protesting the move, and despite the fact it does not work. If North Korea were to launch 100 missiles at us and we take down ten, that will be an incredibly high success rate for the program.

No, the Star Wars (missile defense) program is nowhere close to functional and probably never will be. There are too many variables to make the system possible. It's just a big waste of money.

Considering all their "tests" involved the target missile having an American beckon to ensure it hits so as to guarantee further funding, I'd say the chance is slim to none. Those of you on the west coast better start digging shelters because George seems intent on antagonizing people into a missile strike.

Depends on the speed of the missile. If you're worried about a nuclear missile though, absolutely. The fastest one known I believe only goes 19,000 miles per hour. The intercepting missile would be traveling at just under 186,000 miles per second.

I hope and believe so, but it would be better if we could just get them to stop launching it in the first place. Then again I don't see a good outcome with North Korea, only bad things are going to come out of this situation.

I think we should give North Korea a big, giant, chocolate chip cookie, and 3 years of 'most favored trade nation' status. Their economy is for %%%%, and they've painted themselves into a corner...you ALMOST feel sorry for em...well, sort of, on thursdays, maybe, for like, 10 minutes...then you read about how great the other 199 countries in the world are. Must be pretty bad, coming in behind all the african nations in the global popularity list...

Yes , the missile is large enough to be detected by radar. and it can be detected from as far as 300Km away (and Korea is farther than that) so don't be worried the military isn't like FEMA. lol

Lets hope so! We have a very good defense system here. They may have a missile but they dont have a very good defense.

We sure can, we have the patriot missile, and I'm sure there are other choices we don't even know about.
