Just some white lies maybe. Moses and his lads would'nt have been able to comprehend the scientific terms and proofs of evolution.

There is no evidence to support macro evolution which I am sure would have been quite a topic for Moses with God. The 6 day creation is perfectly valid and logical for the formation of the earth, universe, etc.
Daily, there are news reports refuting evolution and supporting an earth that is about 6,000 years old rather than millions.
Lastly, even evolution doesn't address creation.

First of all, Moses wouldn't have understood God if He had.
Secondly, God had much more important things on His mind for Moses (freeing the Hebrews).
note: How long is a day? At the equator? At the north pole? On Jupiter? On Andromeda? Who says days refer to 24 hour terran dirunal units of time? Surely, that sort of "day" couldn't have been counted until AFTER the sun and moon (not to mention all those stars) had come into being? Could a "day" be the length of time it takes for the universe to revolve once? Does anyone really know? Does it really matter?

Very simple: There is no God. And the existance of an individual called Moses is at least very doubtful.
If Moses existed and heard strange voices, he did most likely suffer from a serious mental condition. However, since there was no Psychology and Psychoanalysis available then, he started a religion instead of seeing a shrink.

I dont know how much you know or care about ancient history, but the book of genesis was actually two books combined into one. When the tribes of Judah and Israel combined their two religions into one, they basically just cut and paste their two books together. If you read genesis carefully, you can see that there are two distinct creation myths told, and two distinct flood myths told. Not only are the two stories quite different, but the language used, importance placed on different locations, and names for God (and Gods!!) are noticeably different.
If god told Moses about creation, why did he tell him two different (and contradictory) stories, and why did he then use Enoch to edit the books together a couple hundred years later? Maybe because it is a symbolic myth that has been passed down from people to people for hundreds of years before Moses was even born?

Mostly because evolution wasn't considered...Darwin wasn't that old! Beyond that, Moses already believed in God, and believed that God created the earth. Moses wrote Genesis for crying out loud! I don't think he needed convincing.

The "theory" of evolution is just that; a theory. Not a proven fact. A theory which Darwin came up with just a few years after Moses' time here on the planet earth.

If you believe in the God of Moses and the Bible then you cannot believe in evolution, the two are not compatible. Therefore your God would not have mentioned it. Evolution makes more sense to me but each to their own.

Religion has always been used to explain things that people couldn't understand. Every religion developed its own creation story to work out how the world (and us) came to be - but since then we've developed new ways of understanding things that doesn't need to rely on gods.
This doesn't mean that creation myths should be completely forgotten about. Every myth has two purposes - firstly, it tries to explain something and secondly it tries to give a moral or spiritual example to live by. While we don't need the myth to explain how the world got here or how humans came to be, the myth can still teach us something that science can't if you pay close enough attention.

My question precisely... in other words... why make things more complicated than they are and therefore harder to understand? Surely an almighty being would have known how to explain his devices to ancient humans simply. Surely if they could handle talking snakes, they could handle a little science lesson.
Why would God be so cryptic, knowing that years down the road, people would be led away from him by it? Why say that the earth was created before the stars, when in fact, the stars are older than the earth?
This is a great site.
