Sounds like you've been struggling with this way too long. The best thing you can do for yourself right now...is pick up the phone and make an appointment to see your family doctor...second make yourself a simple hardy meal, say soup and a sandwich, then get some rest. This will help refresh you. When you wake up...take a shower then go for a walk or place you enjoy going to. Take time out for yourself. Perhaps, you could visit the library, and do some research, to help you put this in better perspective, by looking for self-help books. They have a lot of good ones out now. Start a journal, with how you're day went, or as how your day is going, devide it into three or four stages. Begin with say morning, noon, night, and/or anything before bed. Try to think of anything, that does bring happiness to you, such as things you like doing, and that you're good at.
Sometimes travelling to a new place, city, or town, can make all the difference. Hope that helps, wishing you luck...in the meantime.

You describe all the symptoms of clinical depression. This can be treated, but you must take the first step. Depression does not occur simply when something bad happens, although it can. Depression is a treatable disease suffered by more than 15 million Americans.
Suggest you contact a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist. A psychologist does not / cannot prescribe medication, where as a psychiatrist can. I can say that, from personal experience, seeing a psychologist is a good way to begin to talk about your feelings, and why you are feeling the way you do. It is extremely beneficial in that you are interacting with someone who can probe your emotions from an objective point of view. Furthermore, it helps to be in a safe environment of trust when you do so.
Please get help. You won't regret it. Good luck!!

This sounds so much like me, it's scary. You may have a chemical imbalance and need medication and possibly therapy too. You may have inherited this trait. Many people do not want to admit this and keep putting it off until they do something they cannot change. See your regular doctor and tell them ALL of your feelings and if you are tired all of the time, either want to sleep all the time or if you have insomnia or cannot stay asleep at night and if your weight has changed - up or down over 10 lbs with out trying. If they do not understand, find another doctor.
It took me a while to find a doctor to work with me and I had been this way for most of my life. I may have to be on the meds for a year or two, but then he says we can taper them off and I should be OK. He did warn me that a stressful life event could trigger an imbalance again, so do not rule out being on and off meds at different times of life. I am actually feeling like a part of my friends and days are different and I am getting joy into my life. If you need someone to speak with - email me.

Dude! Prozac is the bomb! All of your "mind clutter" is stinking thinking! You have a deficincy in your brain, like probably 80% of the people walking around! So many people are walking around feeling like crap and wondering what other people are thinking about them, which is a bad preoccupation and costly to your mental health! I take antidepressants because, I come by it honestly! depression runs in the family! I hated feeling like i was in the eye of a hurricane and the world was spinning around me! I felt I had nothing to offer anybody and I was not smart. I hooked up with people who did drugs when I was younger, so I didn't have to look at myself as they were doing the same things with themselves by taking drugs....Anti depressants are made for a reason....They take awhile to work, but they will change your life for the better! You will be rid of your inner critic and a great therapist will help guide you to feel better and worthwhile!
Please do this! You don't have a character flaw...You have a chemical imbalance from childhood and your suffering can end!
you will have change, i garantee you, if you surrender to it! Be smart now and do the smart thing! You can start by finding a good internist or family doctor... Please do it! I never want to go back to my old "place". YOu won't want to either! Our world would be a better place if they put prozac in the dirnking water!!!
good luck! Do it, man!

I am happy that you have reached out for help. This was one great step. Your avatar is cute. I am sure your soul is beautiful.
The bottom line is there is nothing wrong with you. This is all an illusion here. I am speaking metaphysically. However, you feel that it is very real and so it has to be addressed. You ARE in control even though you may not feel as if you are. If you don't like the script of your life, then re-write it. It is easier than you might think. Write your ideal life in detail. See yourself in this script. You are an actor............act the part. After a while you won't be acting any longer. You will have created what you want. It's the law of cause and effect. It won't hurt to try it and it will certainly give you something different to do.
Don't let others put negative thoughts into your head. Listen to your quiet inner voice and not your loud head voice. The quiet inner voice, if listened to, feels right. Your loud voice may not feel right at all. It is often dealing from fear. Your inner voice is the one that is right for you. Believe in yourself.
Sometimes it is hard to do things by yourself. I know as I have been there, too. When it has been difficult for me to help myself, then I seek someone that can help. There are many ways to get help. There are professionals, such as counselors, psychologists, etc., and there are spiritual advisors, like me and so many others out there that just want to help you help yourself. You may find some that will help you with no need for your money. Some ask for your money. It depends on what you are able to give. There are good friends or family that you may not be aware of that would be of great help to you if you only opened up to them. Elders often have wisdom they would be happy to share with you. If you don't trust any of your friends, and you may have good reason not to trust them, you may find them right here or at a church of some kind, or an organization. There are many books that are wonderful help. Be creative. You have had some good suggestions here on this ask/answer place. Some people are taking your problem lightly and joke or give you a bad time. They either don't understand yet, or they are hurting themselves, or they believe that humor will heal you. Humor is great. Please find things that give you joy. Life is all about joy.
There is much joy and interesting things to do in this world. You have to look for it. It may not come to you if you just sit and wish. Put some energy into it even if you don't feel like it. Depression is good for making you not want to do anything but obsess on negative thoughts and want to hide in bed. You take the reigns and go for what you want. Play happy music. Watch happy movies. The vibrations from negative things really do affect you and can bring you down.
There are many things you can do. Your depression may be a learned behavior from your family. It is actually a way of coping even though it isn't a healthy way. You can learn to use other ways of coping. It can be chemical. Your body chemistry may be off and need some assistance from your MD. It sounds like you have had depression all your life. You don't have to continue to have it any longer. It is your choice.
God is real and is always there for you. You are NOT insignificant. You are a beautiful soul that deserves everything that is good. If you don't believe it then you bought the lies over the years. Peel them off like onion skins and get down to who you really are. You are unique and you are a part of all of us.
I don't believe your imaginary friends are imaginary. They very well may be spirit attempting to assist you. There are many mysteries in this world. Mysteries to some and real every day stuff to others.
best wishes for you.........love, light and peace

BE THE DIRECTOR, change the script!
You have that power. You need to get out there and do something new. Only you can help yourself. You have already pointed out, that you are tired of the same thing. Try something new, join some evening classes. A new hobby. Smile more, even if it hurts. Change your diet. What you need is change. Go on direct....you have already made a positive step of realising that something is wrong, now its your turn to pull yourself out of it. Yes it will be hard. But if you dont try, you wont find out.

I know you don't think so right now, but you really do have the power to change things in your life. What you need to determine is what you would like to do. Do you want to move? Would you feel better in a new apartment, a new town, a new state? Have you always wanted to live by the beach? Would you like to take classes? Have you always wanted to be an accountant? Look at your local Adult Ed classes for Computer Accounting. Learn to give your car a tune up. Once you get moving you will find things aren't so bad.

You need to start doing different things in order to stop thinking the way you are. Take some classes for something you may be interested in doing, do something totally different than what you would normally do. Expand your horizons, and you will start meeting new & interesting people. You can change your look too, your hair or clothes that may help some. If this does not help, you may need some counseling. It can be a beautiful life, it's all in the way you look at it dear.

You are not crazy, I feel like that everyday. Don't like you are alone, because many people feel the same. The reason you are probably feeling this way, because we live in a society that worships the "Barbie-doll" image, and the realness of life does not matter anymore. Forget about the norm of things and start doing things that you enjoy, and when you start feeling good and confident about yourself, then everything fall into plan.
