they usually do eat poop because they can smell the vitamins and minerals in it,to where all we smell is poop.its the actual feed smell from each animal that they are smelling!they wouldnt normally eat the actual food that the other animaqls eat but after its digested its more appealing to them because what normally would turn them away from that food is taken out in digestion!

Your dog is eating poop because of some type of nutrition/ mineral or vitamin deficiency. Just like when dogs eat grass. Try getting some chewable vitamins for your doggy. That should stop his bad habit and help with that problem breath.

Dogs eat poop because sometimes there is undigested food in it. My vet told me that's why our dogs eat it.

dogs have a lot of sniffing sensors - like 400 times more than a human, but not very many taste buds - like just a couple of hundred, so they'll eat things that to us dont' seem appealing but to them it may seem great.

I've heard that it is a way for them to gather information about other animals(like what kind of animal and what they eat, etc.)There are alot of things about animals we have no way of knowing. I just like to think of it as a way for them to learn about other animals in their area. Actually, I don't really like to think about it at all, but you asked, so I answered! : )

hmm not sure why, but dogs really like doing this. Someone told me they saw a show on wolves and they explained they did this to mark their territory and show they have been there...sounds gross to me but what can you do loL!
