I'm looking to purchase a dog. I work full time. Have two children (6 and 12) and am moving to a condo with a small yard. I've always had big dogs... looking for something small for smaller living space...

yes they are good family dogs they don't like strangers but that just depends on how you raise it. they don't like being left alone though. they don't need much of a yard and are satisfied in a small apartment or whatever.

It depends on how you raise them as a puppy. If you provide firm, consistent training.....Chihuahuas can make good family dogs. They tend to be skittish and become possessive towards one member of the family. Which makes it hard for anyone else to get along with the dog. I would recommend a Rat Terrier, a Shitzu, or a Yorkie as a smaller family dog.

Chihuahuas are very nervous dogs, not really suited to playing with kids. They are very hyper.I'd go with a terrier or other smallish dog,but keep in mind that most small dogs are very nervous and jumpy.

when you said you looking for something smaller, your not kidding. chihuahuas are cute but are hard to train and seem to yap a lot.

Chihuahuas bark A LOT. And it's a high pitched annoying bark. I would say no.

It's iffy. I had one who was fabulous. Never a problem. The other one, while she does very well most of the time, doesn't exactly relish being around my son.

Will be the best animal you've ever owned. Love's you no matter what. One small drawback they become human.

I would say yes in a way but they bark too much, if you are lucky you can get one that does not bark as much.
