Usually you cannot opt out of credit card applications by phone. Some people mislead you and say that you can. You can do almost any application by phone, but to get out of it, you must do it in writing. To them, anyone can canceel by phone. Its a protective thing to say but it helps their case to make it more difficult to get out. So do write a letter. Register the letter and keep a copy for your files. After five working days (be sure to exclude statutory holidays as well as Saturdays and Sundays), call to verify that they have received your letter. In the mean-time, do not use the credit card, if you have already received it and you can also ask the have the card canceeled if you are in possession of the card. That means you nor anyone else can use it. The number is usually at the back of the credit card(if you already have it) 24 hours you should be able to get service.

This works,

buy a cheap paper shredder. every time you get an application, open it up take the reply envelope out, shred the the remaining, put everything back into the envelope, seal it and mail it back.

on the bottom of the reply envelope there is like a barcode that they scan that gives them your info any ways. so when they open it up to see the shredded mess all over, they will take you off the mailing list.

I do this to all my applications that come in the mail that is unwanted. Now, I don't get junk mail or unwanted items. My postal carrier is much happier because he has less to deliver to my house on a weekly basis.

i think there are phone numbers on every application they send you. or just call what ever number you found in the mail, they will transfer you to the line you want to talk to

Call the credit card company and talk to someone and ask for their supervisor if you do not get any satisfaction.
