What can i say, toddlers like the attention. If mommy is right there, a big hug and kiss on the boo boo will make them better. They are just experiencing things.
Nothing wrong with it though.

Not always, but I have noticed how they do it to attract our attention when we around and it is os amazing for toddlers to be "manipulative" so early. However they might cry for hunger, when they hurt somewhere or any other reasons requiring real and instant attention so don't you get discouraged or bothered, keep your calm when it happens, and take her into your arms, if she stops it is okay cause it did not cost you anything if she does not then maybe something more serious happened ...

I think when they fall or something, they cry for a few reasons, 1. They want attention (they can't help it, they are babies!) 2. They are really hurt, and 3. They don't know if they are really hurt or not...or they are scared. When my son (1 year old) falls - he immediately looks at me for reaction. Most times, I can say, "Oh, you're all right..." and he's fine and keeps playing. If he is really hurt, I console him right away.

Faerie... I do the same thing so I think I know what you mean I dont laugh at my son cause he fell I laugh so he doesn't cry... now when he falls he picks himself up and goes about his business... if it is really bad he will come to me or his daddy and say "hurt" and point to where he is hurt... I just let my son know life is not over cause you fell... you are missing alot of playing time when you sit and cry...

Seems to me that she does for attention, if it is only happening when she thinks no one is watching, but dont think her too much of a wolf in sheeps clothing.....she is only a child, they need that kind of attention to know that their parents still love them. Remember childrens minds dont work quite the same way as ours do, they are so much more innocent, and are more openly honest about their feelings then we are, as they dont yet have the open fear of rejection.......If she cries give her a cuddle, what can it hurt.

It all depends on how the adult reacts to the child falling. The first time my son fell in his playpen, I laughed at him. He never cried when he fell and it wasn't serious.

Ok, I reread this and I really have to ammend something. I didn't really laugh AT him. It was more like, 'Look, Andrew fell. how cute.'
Gosh, that sounded terrible.

I think they do sometimes just cry to get sympathy or extra cuddling or whatever, but other times they will cry just because something hurts - physically or otherwise.
