Most of ant species are edible but unfortunately not the ones that you have in your yard. Most of the species in the US can not be eaten. There are some kinds that not even birds eat them.

Eating insects can be really dangerous especially if you do not know which are edible. In this case ants, when you digest them, release toxins that in the best case scenario are causing extreme pain.

Bugs in general are good food and many people around the world eat ants. I did some research but I could not find any evidence that they increase your eyesight. Probably is one of those urban myths. There are some tribes in Africa and Australia that believe that bugs have healing powers but it could not be proved.

Take a look at the links they have many interesting aspects of the matter. Interesting question.

Absolutly. I used to have 180/20 vision in both eyes. I began eating ants about eight months ago. My vision is now 120/20. While its not perfect still, it is very much improved.

Once i actually ate an ant (not purposely), it was in my food and it wasn't that great but it wasn't horrible either. And i wear glasses now, so i don't think it helped.

I doubt it. I've never heard this, but I have heard that ants and other insects are good sources of protein, but I've never heard that protein will improve eyesight.

My poor, misguided friend! It's what THEY eat that you're supposed to eat. That's why they can see without eyes!
