I am the mother of 21 month old twins who keep taking off their diapers. I have tried taping them....I have tried putting their sleepers and clothes on backwards but still they get the diaper off.
Please, someone out there...HELP ME!! I am going through almost 20 diapers a day and they are not cheap.

Been there done that. My twins are now three and the best thing we found that worked was using the clear packaging tape from Dollar General it is thin and they can't get it off. We did that at nap and bedtime. During the day we had them wear trainer pants. We are almost potty trained but with twins I am realizing they feed off each other and one does great the other reverts and it is a on-going thing. I have three older children and believe me when I say raising twins is alot different then one. Good Luck and Feel Free To Contact Me If you Need To Talk. God Bless

Well, they might not necessarily be ready to be potty trained. A lot of times, I find my son pulling at his diaper in his sleep. It has come off only once...he's only 13 months and is NOT READY to be potty trained.

You said you tried putting the sleepers and clothes on backward. Have you tried actually putting the diaper on backward? The tabs would be in the back, and if you get the diapers that have front and back protection (some are made specifically for boys or girls) then you should be OK as far as leaks go. I would make sure your little ones wear a onesie at nighttime, and put the diaper on backwards.

If it is happening during the daytime, you may want to venture into buying a potty, just to see how they react. Try putting them in regular underwear (you'd have to buy the training pants). I also saw something on a news show about "Evacuation Communication" that you could possibly try too (although it is very time consuming, because you have to watch for signals that your little one is about to void or evacuate).

Sometimes it is just a phase. Who knows? The minds of those little ones can be so complex!! I hope this helps you!

PS: If the diapers that they are pulling off are not soiled, then reuse them....I don't see a problem with that. Just don't use them if they have urinated in them...even if it's just a little bit. Also, my one son goes through about 7-10 diapers a day....and since you've got twins, 14-20 isn't really all that abnormal...is it?

Good luck!

Two of my children were experts at the diaper games too. You're right, tape doesn't work. However, duct tape works wonders. I wrapped the duct tape one time around the top of the diaper and neither of them were able to pull it loose. Make sure you don't get their skin though or it'll hurt when you untape for diaper changes.

if they know how to take the diapers off .... then its time to potty train them....

Both of my boys started at age 2...because I'm a single mom (going on 4 yrs) I couldn't afford to have my youngest in diapers anymore...so I told him that I wasn't buying diapers anymore...it took a while but its worth it in the end...my oldest is 6 and my youngest is 3...

If you're children are taking their diapers off to me its like the child is trying to say 'Mom I'm ready to be potty trained' You said your children are 21 months. Its a possibility that they're ready to be potty trained. and they're trying the only way they know how to point it out to you

I used to take my diapers off all the time. Eventually my mom just kept them off of me and potty trained me.

Sounds like a good swat on the bare butt will do wonders here. They will learn it hurts a lot more if there is no diaper on than if there is one on.

It is also no reason not to reuse the diapers if there is nothing on them.

They are letting you know that they are ready to begin potty training.Start by putting tham on the pot as soon as they awake in the mornings and before bed at night.Go over wet and dry, stinky poo poo.It may take a while but they will get it if you work diligently at it and with consistency.GOOD LUCK!!!

If they do not want to wear diapers anymore, try to potty train them. 21 months isn't too early.

Most of the time this happens for 2 reasons...one they're saying MOMMY POTTY TRAIN US! and 2 babies like to be naked...though i'd say your best bet is trying to get them to potty train. If you feel they're ready also...Either way i'd suggest pull ups, they're harder to get off
