Modern anthropology holds that Neanderthals, which are not the same species of humans that we are, coexisted and perhaps interbred with homo sapiens sapiens (our species). See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/323657.stm As such this raises a lot of theological questions: were the Neanderthals saved by the atonement? Is it significant that God allowed them to become extinct? Were the Neanderthals made in God's image, too? Some think they had language, like us. Were there two Adams: one Neanderthal and one Cro-Magnon?

Nope. The Bible does not say anywhere that we will not evoleve, adapt to our enviroment, or continue to learn and grow.

Look at our brains, we use merely a small portion of what God gave us. What could we become if we used it all? What kind of knowledge and power would we have if we used all of our brains? Think God uses all of his? Did he give it to us for a purpose?

So, in the idea we can continue to grow and learn, there must be a purpose for that, and it does not negate God.

No every evolution of mankind is the direction of God, there is always the possibility that God created us to see how long it took us to evole to the point of being exactly the same as the most powerful.

Well stick around cross your fingers, kick your heels together, and close your eyes and wait to evolve, but don't hold your breath. We haven't done it yet, not with any proof anyway. But don't wait too long though. God Bless.

I don't believe so. Most religions that claim that are referring to a spiritual image, not a physical one.

That's precisely the reason we aren't evolving into anything else. God's smart like that. ;)

Only if you think that "in God's image" means that God literally looks like a human.
