When i make taco i use groundbeef and dry taco seasoning packet, but i doesn't seem to have that kick that some restaurants tacos have. I would love a taco meat recipe with that extra kick. And i love it hot.

You can make your own....
1-2 Tbsp Minced onion (dehydrated)
1 Tbsp Chili powder
1 tsp Cumin
1 tsp Garlic Salt
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp cornstarch
Mix spices together and mix into 1 pound of cooked meat. Add 1/2 cup of water and stir. Cook on low for about 10 minutes.
This is a basic recipe and will not be spicy but I have added more chili powder and a little cayenne to add a kick. You could also add diced Chiles to your meat after cooking and that would definitely spice it up!

To spice up my tacos I can a jar of Chipotle Chiles in Adobo Sauce, cook the meat with the seasoning and a few spoonfuls of the sauce, then either toss the chiles or use them in other recipes. It adds a nice smoky flavor that has kick but isn't too spicy. To make it spicier cook with the sauce and chiles but you'll want to fish the Chipotles out before serving them. (They are edible but not right for tacos... but they are great in chili or quesadillas!)

No recipe but I used to do was drain the fat before I added 1 packet and then 1/2 of another packet. I would also use less water than reccomended and fry the heck out of it after it was mixed.

add in some chili powder when you put in the taco seasoning.
and you can also add some peppers for heat.

take half an onion and two jalapenos and chop finely. (if you want really hot, leave the seeds and white membranes in the jalapenos - normally i deseed one and leave the seeds in the other). in your pan, add a bit of oil and sautee the onion and peppers until the onion is translucent. then add the meat and follow the directions on the taco seasoning package. putting in these veggies really enhance the flavor, and it makes it seem authentic! :)

good luck!

A huge trick is to mush the meat up into tiny pieces while you're cooking it so it temderizes instead of hardens into round pieces. Just get a big spoon and press on it once you seperate it all up. It works GREAT and stores the flavor of the seasonings with the meat so much better.

Seasonings: garlic powder, salt, pepper, cayenne, tapitio (sp.?) sauce, anything!!!

I use:
1 lb hamburger
1 small onion
1clove garlic
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp cumin
1 Tbs Chili Powder (more can be added)

Cut up onion, place in frying pan with hamburger. Mince the garlic and add. Cook thoroughly. Add spices, pour in about a 1/4 cup of water. Cook until all the water is gone.
If you want to add more cumin for more spicyness, you can.

I like Enyos answer best, the only thing different I do, and most other people don't is boil the meat in water, then drain. It makes it way less greasy, plus the meat ends up in finer pieces instead of chunks!
