It depends on the size of the photos, how detailed they are, and what the photos are of. So in short, the answer is anything between one huge *** photo, to thousands of tiny ones.

depends on the size of the photos...

If you have a 5MB camera... devide 1000 / 5 = 200 aprox.

7megpix Resolution takes approx 3MB+ for one photo. Then figure out for 1GB.
