Way too much "fluff" in your statements. The guy will tune you out after the first few words. Keep it short and sweet.
"Hi, I was wondering if you would like to go to a movie (or whatever) with me sometime this month?"

If you spoke as bad as you typed, I don't think it'd work. Try using spell check, but other than that, I think that you're pretty courageous. The thing you have to remember is, if you don't try you'll never know. It's worth a shot. Go for it. The worst he can say is "No."
