She should wait about 6 weeks for the body to heal. Make sure that any possible tears are healed, the cervix is closed, and that the possibility of infection is back down. Also, she needs the time to bond with the baby as well as to get some rest.

I did 3 weeks later. because when I had my son I didnt tear or anything and my husband came back from R&R from Iraq.. lol So as long as you arent hurting in that area anymore and DONT have stitches its fine to do it as little as 3 weeks after you have a baby. I asked a Doc if it was alright and they said yeah. Just be careful if it hurts or whatever then dont do it for another week and try again.

Anal intercourse in not recommended immediately following any delivery. If you have had an episiotomy or vaginal laceration repair, you need to be sure you are properly healed before attempting anal or vaginal intercourse. Even anal intercourse could disrupt episiotomy stitches and cause the repair to break down. Also, many women have significant hemorrhoids after delivery, and anal penetration can be painful or lead to heavy bleeding. You should wait until your healthcare provider examines you at your postpartum visit before engaging in anal or vaginal intercourse.

Dr's rule - 4-8 weeks, personal rule - when you are up to it. My ex-husband and his sister are exactly 9 months apart (9-11-66 and 7-11-67) - imagine that.
