The public and doctors think that it is a good idea to remove vending machines from public schools cause of the high childhood obesity rates in this country....they are also concerned about what there children eat and don't want them eating junk food but more nutricous foods.

Vending machines should be removed from schools because of a few reasons. The first is that the foods and beverages inside the machine aren't healthy. They have high sodium counts, and calories. Children prefer these salty and fruity snacks over school lunches that may bot taste as good, but are definately more healthy than a bag of potatoe chips!
The incessant need to stop at the vending machine because they "need a drink" or are "starving" before lunch is also a problem. Teens stop at the vending machines between classes, are late to class and even skip their class completly to "hang out" by the machines, grab a pop and relax instead of going to their class and learning something educational! Teens and pre-teens are beginning to think it's acceptable to be late or even skip class so they can get a pop or a bag of chips. It's interfering with their education, and their health.
Since more children are flooding to the vending machines, the sponsors of the machines are recieving the profit from their tasty, but unhealthy snacks. The schools aren't making nearly as much money on lunches as they used to, therefore they have less money for supplies such as pencils, paper, and educational posters for classrooms.
Also because of the large populatiry in the vending machines, that means a lot of garbage from the empty bags and containers. A lot of children don't care about their school, or just don't have the proper respect to throw away all of their garbage, leaving schools with empty bottles, half empty bags, crumpled bags all over the school. Teenagers aren't responsible enough to have vending machine privelages and throw away any garbage in a garbage canister. The teenagers wedge bags between desks, behind cabinets, ect.
(I'm a High School student, so this isn't coming from an adult/parent's perspective.)

Because usually the vending machines are filled with junk food and children will usually indulge in it. Too many children are overweight and having these vending machines in the schools is not helping.

The reason they are there in the first place is because companys pay the school money. We have to consider if its worth losing money that the schools really need. I think parents should just teach their kids about proper nutriture. my high school had vending machines, and I never used them... I'd just keep a granola bar or fruit in my backpack for a snack and bring a lunch.

It's not the vending machines that are bad, it's the things that are in them. If you had vending machines with just granola bars and dried fruit and stuff (like I've always wanted) it'd be fine.

Well because for one alot of kids are late to class stopin at the vending machine but ill admit when i was in school those things kept my stomach from falling out a couple of times when i had construction class in the winter you would be suprised at how much enegry your body uses when its 10 degrees out and you have to put walls and sht up and you didnt eat breakfast cause you would have missed the bus but taking the vending machines wont do much unless they take away the snack bar at lunch cause alot of people will go over there and either spend their lunch money on snacks or in my case go eat lunch and take money from their job and buy more junk than the food that they ate for lunch. That used to piss me off becuase you had to give them your student number to get your lunch and after that you could get another lunch but i could go to the snack bar and buy $15 worth of candy ice cream or what ever it was that you felt like eating which made no sence to me

first off, it tempts kids to spend money, 99% of kids don't know how to turn off that temptation. Second, there is rarely anything healthy in the vending machines, helping cause the epidemic of child obesity. Third, many schools used to have soda and other sugary foods or drinks in their machines (thanks to bill clinton thats no longer an issue) these foods give people sugar highs, making them hyper active and less able to concentrate in the classroom.

it should be an recommendations-blowing fund raiser, it really is significant in this age of budget cuts. maximum merchandising machines provide water or pretzels besides to intense calorie snacks and drinks. Many young ones are at school after hours for activities, and may be able to have a snack. merchandising machines will be set no longer to paintings throughout the time of universal college hours. the little ones and their moms and dads are questioning those who can make their own judgements about ingredients and drinks.
