I have been giving my kids their medicine for their allegies, Zyrtec for a while now. Since I do not get home until after 5:00pm, I had been forgetting to take the medicine to the babysitter so I had to give them their dosages one after the other. The medicine said to give them one teaspoon twice a day, so that means that I was giving them two teaspoons once a day. I just called the pharmacist today to ask if this was fine, and stupid me had hesitated to call earlier. She said that it is better to wait at least eight hours in between because that way it's not pushing so much medicine in them at one time. And, it lets it settle better in their system. I know, what can I do now but to start giving them their medicines like I should. But shoot, I feel so bad now, I feel like a bad mother. I hope that all this time that I have been giving them their medicine at one time hasn't been affecting them greatly.

Don't beat yourself up- now you know better. Just do it the right way from now on, and be really careful with medicines!

We all make mistakes as parents.

You did what you knew best at the time, now that you know the reason behind the separate dosages, you will do your best again, only in the more accurate way.

You are not a bad mother, you are a caring mother. A bad mother would not only have doubled up doses but probably would have just not bothered to give the medcation at all.

Stop beating yourself up...you are doing terrific, now go give the babies a hug, they love you and know you love them too.

take care

Don't feel bad. You aren't a bad mother. Have they been acting differently? Did the pharmacist say it would have an adverse effect on them? If not don't worry at least you corrected it and at least you are enough of a good mother to remember to give it to them. There are mothers out there that don't care to even give them medicine. Don't beat yourself up.

honey you are human and we all make mistakes . this wont be the last one you make .
if i were to sit and post all my mistakes in my life i have made or even just the ones i have made with my kids i would be here forever.
since medicine is very dangerous thing to make a mistake with i would next time call the doctor or pharmacy and ask before going against a dosing schedule . certain meds in high doses even OTC can cause kidney or liver failure .
you are not a bad mom . we all have our moments . just learn from your mistake and continue being the caring mom you are
HUGS !!!

Hey these things happen. You are not a bad mother at all! But at least you felt the need to call and ask. Better late than never!

If you are very concerned about it take them to the Dr to have him check your kids out. But if they aren't showing any signs of problems then I really wouldn't worry too much. And don't beat yourself up over it. We all make mistakes.

And to second guess yourself like that only means that you really care for and love your children.

Don't worry too much. I'm sure it isn't really harmful, otherwise the pharmacist would have asked you to bring them in for checks.

It's just life with kids, that stuff happens. I'm sure they are fine and try not to worry. You know now and you won't do it again, so don't beat yourself up.

If they seem fine don't worry about, know you know not to do that again and maybe by posting this here someone else might learn from your mistake.
