Free will... isn't an excuse to not take responsibility for your own actions.
You thoughts and actions ARE yours. If you believe you are completely controlled by the universe, the universe would not have you ask this question as it would be useless.

Leave it to RUSH to come up with the perfect answer:
There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance,
A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance.
A planet of playthings,
We dance on the strings
Of powers we cannot perceive
"The stars aren't aligned -
Or the gods are malign"
Blame is better to give than receive.
You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill;
I will choose a path that's clear-
I will choose Free Will.
There are those who think that they were dealt a losing hand,
The cards were stacked against them - they weren't born in Lotus-Land.
All preordained-
A prisoner in chains-
A victim of venomous fate.
Kicked in the face,
You can't pray for a place
In Heaven's unearthly estate.
You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill;
I will choose a path that's clear-
I will choose Free Will.
Each of us-
A cell of awareness-
Imperfect and incomplete.
Genetic blends
With uncertain ends
On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet.

have you ever heard of dichotomy? when two apparently different things or ideas are co-existing simultaniously.
we have free will, and we are part of the One Universal Soul,
~thus connected to mass consiousness and can be either consiously creating our own experiences, or just going along with the bigger Soul.
the truth is very complex, and this is just a simple explanation of something very dynamic. God is full of contradictions, and there are levels or circles of truth. everything depends upon how you look at things, and how you define things. change your perspective- and everything changes
open your mind- be free
*peace

Before we entered this world, we swore an oath with god to abide by his rules. Now we on earth and living, so we all have a free will and that is why each and every person is not perfect because of the free will we all make mistakes.

Here is the best way I know to describe free will, as given to us by GOD, so being that it was given to us by GOD, it is real and true.
Adam and Eve were given complete access to everything in the garden. They had free will to choose what to eat and when to eat. GOD did not and still does not predetermine what we eat and when.
What is predetermined is if we will choose GOD or another wider easier pathway. All are invited, few are chosen.
IT is hard as a human to accept that GOD knows that some of our loved ones will never come to know him and accept him as the only true way. Their eyes and their hearts will remain closed to him. We plant the seed, we water the seed, only GOD determines if it grows.

Free Will is guided by society. What is acceptable by society? Humans have no free will. What do you mean by Universal Soul? I would love to hear more on that.

Free will does exist as part of the existence of God included in His existence. He has created the rules and universe for us. What would the point of heaven and hell be then? Reward and punishment? How would we ever advance?

I believe that we have "Free Will", but at the same time, I believe that there is a "Divine Plan" for all of us.
I believe that my creator(s)- is/are wise enough to follow me through my daily life in order to present me with opportunites and challenges that lead up to learning the lessons of my own personal "Divine Plan".
I also believe that my creator then waits with baited breath to see what I will do, which choices I will make. I do not believe that my creator knows what I will do next. In it's infinite wisdom, my creator at each step, presents new ideas based upon the actions I have taken in regards to what I was presented with.
I believe in karma and hence, I believe that our lessons in our "Divine Plans" are geared to teaching us what we need to learn in order to balance our karma. But I do not believe in "original sin" or "being born under a bad star". We *have* the free will, and we make our own luck in life. In my belief, our creator just lovingly guides us along. We are responsible for our own choices.

i do believe in freewill. why do you think the world is in such a mess. God gave us freewill to pick and chose for ourselves. the choices and decision we make are on us. a lot of the ideas and thoughts we have are implanted in us as we grow up, i.e. teachers, preachers, and most importantly our parents and family. we are taught what they believe from birth. I'm not saying what they believe is wrong, but we have to chose for ourselves. each and every person picks their own way to the path of enlightenment. we must pick the path of love. God is pure love. yes we are all one with God but we all have individual choice. may God bless you and guide you in your quest for the path of enlightenment.
blessed be.
