As others have mentioned, one cause is dehydration or simply not drinking enough water. If you drink a lot of water, your urine will tend to be pale yellow. If you take a lot of vitamin C, it will be dark yellow because excess vitamin C is eliminated from your system.

However, there may be other reasons for dark amber urine. Try drinking a few glasses of water. Don't drink too much, but a couple of bottles of water should be fine. If your urine becomes lighter, then it's probable that you simply didn't have enough clear fluid in your system.

If the urine remains dark amber, and/or if you have other symptoms, like pain or a burning sensation when you urinate, pain or tightness in your stomach, aches in your back where your kidneys are located, etc., you should see a doctor.

Dark amber urine may also mean you have some blood in your urine. If you think this is the case, you should definitely see a doctor.

If your urine is unusually dark, it means that you are dehydrated. IN warm weather, it is especially important to maintain your water intake. If you dont like the taste of water, try crystal light. IT tastes better, and has 5 calories per glass! Also, if you just started taking a new medication it could alter your urine color, especially vitamins. There are also some foods that may do this, such as mass quantaties of leafy green foods. HOpe this helps!

could be a number of things, but dehydration is quite likely. Drink water. Darker the urine, the higher the solids concentration which can stress the kidneys.

Any pain in the kidney area or bladder area accompany this? If yes could be an infection or kidney stones. You do need to drink more water also. If by increasing you water intake (recommendations say 2Ltrs every 24 hours) and it remains this colour then I would get it investigated at your doctors.

Usually it's a sign of dehydration, or you have not been drinking enough water to flushout your system. If you drink a lot of sugars like Soda or fruit juice with Highfructos cornsyrup in it. It is really important to get enogh water in your system to flush out the waste from the sugar building up in your kidneys.
