The idea of a "soul mate" may be romantic - but think of the tragedy of not finding your soul mate? If there is only one person meant for you, what if you miss them? You will marry someone else and have children that were never meant to be born? No, that doesn't make any sense. We are free to pick any person we want to marry (as long as we use wisdom about who we pick - are they a kind and loving person? are they faithful and loyal? Do we both consider the same things important such as family/God/career etc?)
It is important to choose someone compatable with your life goals, but no, there is not only one person out there that you have to spend your life straining and searching for.

in fact, there is no one destined to be anyone's soul mate
the romantic notion of a soul mate is akin to the tooth fairy and the easter bunny
in fact ....it is more likely that a rabbit is going to hop into ur living room and lay colorful candy filled eggs into a basket than it is that u are going to find a "soul mate"
the best that you can hope for is to find someone you can get along with, be honest with, and share some common interests with......
also, that old addage about "opposites attract" is yet another common myth.....if you want to marry someone you will be able to live with you had better have some things in common and enough decency to respect the things that you don't have in common

No! I think that's such a stupid notion. What happens if your "soul mate" marries someone else? Are you just screwed and destined to be with people who make you unhappy your whole life? Or if your "soul mate" dies and you remarry, which one is really your "soul mate"? It's just a silly emotional phrase coined by somebody, and I think it's a really easy cop out for people who don't want to put work into their relationships. "It didn't work out because he/she isn't my soulmate."

I think so. To me a soulmate is a person that you just connect with that has no reasoning behind it. Like you've known this person forever and you just "click" I think everyone has a soulmate, and fate guides you to find him/her.
I have found mine. My fiance, whom I love so much. Everything that has happened so far in our lives has had a positive impact eventually. I think everything happens for a reason, you just might not see why for months or years from now.

gosh, I hope not. I have met lots of people that I connected with on a deeper level--that I would consider soul mates.

it relies upon on the guy's decision. my opinion is that there is no such ingredient as "a particular individual be ones soul-mate" you may "connect" with countless persons. it truly is u the guy who chosen who's your soul-mate! my advice attempt to locate somebody on your soul :)
