Just give him Tylenol infant drops.
UPDATE: "sbrn" does not know what she's talking about. The only reason you should be using Motrin, would be for a high fever that Tylenol is not effecting. Ibuprofen is more of a risk than acetaminophen if the incorrect dosage is administered. Many pediatricians will give you samples of the Tylenol Infant Drops when you take your baby to get shots. The poster who recommended to give Tylenol prior to the injections is correct. Just a minimal dose though. Also, teething does not cause fevers. That is a myth. And finally, if you call your ped. office and tell them that your child has a fever of 101F, they will tell you to give him Tylenol and if after an hour, a small dose of Motrin may be administered if the fever has not reduced. They WILL NOT suggest that you bring him in with a fever that low. It seems high, and it would be to an adult, but not an infant. Many doctors won't see a child unless the fever is 105F or higher. That would be the equivalent of an adult running a temp. of 103F. Surely uncomfortable, but not deadly.
Please report any fever over 24 hours.

A hint for next time. Give him tylonol a half hour before his shots and that will help keep the temp down.
FOr now, tylonol (Check with the doc for dosing info, or use the WEIGHT chart on the back of the box). Advil doesn't work as well for shots...
Try a cool washcloth on the forhead or a naked baby... just don't let him get too cold.
The fever will usually go away in a day or two if its just a reaction from the shots.

This is typically normal for infants to have a fever after getting their 4 month old shots, the best thing to do,( been there and did that) is to make the baby as comfortable as possible, make sure the baby IS NOT allergic to certain pain reliever, . Make a warm bath for the baby, do not under or over dress the baby. Just remember, do you like too much clothing on when your HOT? Or too less of clothing on when your COLD? If the fever is above 102 call the doctors office as soon as possible. My prayers are with you.

Try Children's Motrin and if it is too high you need to take the infant to the hospital ASAP.
