Jesus' FIRST miracle was turning water to wine at the wedding party AFTER the people were drunk.

God set up festivals for the Israelites, where they were to gather together and feast and drink wine and other brewed drinks.

The bible talks about wine skins all the time because wine, winery's and vineyards were not only a way of life, but a sign of prosperity from God.

The problem with alcohol, is when it becomes an idol to a person. When it becomes abusive. The bible says not to be given over to drunkards. The only time it said not to drink, was when Solomon was told as king by his mother i believe it was, not to be drunk while you're king, since you never know when you might be needed for a service you cant perform drunk. It also says not to be part of the world, so i'd have so assume that throwing kegger parties where everyone gets drunk and has sex and does crazy stuff.. or sitting around a bar being foolish would be wrong. everything in the right place and right time.

If God didnt want people to drink, he wouldnt have taught them how to make it, and how to enjoy it. People just believe that they have no self control.

I once read an interesting article about the development of civilization and alcohol. Up until very recently, almost every drink was fermented to keep it from spoiling. Beer, ale, wine were all developed as a way to preserve and store water and fruit juices to be consumed later.

Now imagine that everyone in your city/ country/ world are drinking beer or wine with every meal since childhood. Maybe everyone is slightly drunk all the time, maybe everyone is just losing brain cells at an alarming rate. Imagine what that does to society's social and technological development.

It tastes like crap. I don't know why people drink alcohol. I think hard liquor (vodka, rum, etc.) and most beer taste like puddle water. Wine tastes okay, and I think champagne and coolers taste pretty good. However, ever since that alcohol binge on my birthday, I have hated vodka with a passion.

Why do people drink? Some actually like the taste, and some like the feeling. But alcohol hurts your body, especially your liver and brain. I know certain studies show that it can help with heart disease (with wine), but why not just exercise and save a few brain cells? Personally, I think Coke or other soft drinks taste better, are cheaper, and are better for you. At least if you have a little in your body, you won't get impaired during driving. Alcohol is dangerous. Everyone knows they do stupid things with alcohol and become dumber as well.

It's a recreational drug and, as such, it should be used for personal recreation but with proper moderation according to the boundaries of each person.
Some people have a tendency to alcoholism and should never drink it, others get drunk very easily, and others only start to feel the effects after drinking huge quantities. Each of them should drink according to the way their body works.

However, if a person starts drinking for purposes other than recreation, very oftenly and compulsively, he has a drinking problem, and he should seek help.
Alcohol should remain available to the adult public, but perhaps it should be regulated a bit more to reduce accidents, addiction and other alcohol-related diseases.

Myself, I enjoy drinking mildly, and sometimes getting drunk, with my friends.

ok, obviously no on can make it unlawful for a pregnant woman to drink alcohol, with the aid of the undeniable fact that's in truth, felony. the authentic element is, a competent mom would never even imagine of putting both of those aspects into her toddler's body. both will be very, very risky to new existence. merely because weed has "never" killed all people, does no longer recommend that that's by ability of any ability wholesome for a coming up baby. so that you may use that evaluation is amazingly immature, i'd wait a at the same time as in the previous having little ones.

Biblically, I think drinking is fine, just not to be drunk.
Medically, it has shown to offer some benefits, although some people medically should not have it, so that would be up to their Drs.
Personally, I think its okay. But I dont think people should get drunk often, cause that causes health risks, and I live in a town were there are countless DUIs and fatal car accidents caused by drunk drivers, so Im an advocate for, if you cant drink responsibly, you should be shot.

I think I love to drink. I drink all the time. I get drunk. If I wasn't at work, I would be drunk right now. No really though, I do drink alot, especially on the weekends. I do it for the fun of it. It makes me laugh. Plus, it helps me not be anxious!!! I don't down on those people that don't drink, but I can't stand people that say it's so horrible just because they don't do it!!!

Drinking is not sinful. Making alcohol more important in your life than God is sinful. Getting drunk and hurting yourself or others is sinful.

I'm not sure why people like to drink themselves sick. I have more self respect than that.

If you are so inclined, I suggest you try a red wine called Barbara. It has wonderful flavor.

I don't understand why some people think that water was polluted and poisoned in ancient times more so than in modern industrial times, but that is probably best left as a separate question.

The Bible does not condemn the use of alcohol. Even Jesus drank alcoholic wine (John 2:1,2,6-10) However, the Bible does condemn drinking alcohol to the point of getting drunk.

Alcohol in moderation is actually good for you and can help lower cholesterol.

To each their own.
I guess the best way to decide is what do YOU feel most comfortable with? Do you feel guilty if you drink alcohol?

I myself have a drink or two if I'm out to a nice dinner with my husband. And I don't do it to get drunk, I do it because like pop/soda, it's something I like to have every once in a while.

Long as your not drinking to jeapordize your well-being or your family then I see no problems with it.
