I had surgery while I was in the military and it did not alleviate my problem. I am in pain pretty much every day. I was on and off painkillers for the past few yrs. Now my new doc at the VA puts me on naprosen and some other anti inflammatory med! It is not working and I am so annoyed they would just switch my meds when the percasets and vikiding were working great on days that I needed them. How else can I get these?

Ask your doc to send you to pain management, the doc may be leary of narcotic pain killers.

hey the big problem with taken meds for a long term problem can lead you right into an addiction problem. And the more you take, the more you will need. Eventually each cell will be screaming out for the drug. It will take more and more to help the pain. The addiction can end up being worse than the pain.
Can you get a pain managment class. .Relaxations, medication.
Know your body well with what you can and ccan't do and don't push yourself. Pain is the bodys way of telling us that something is wrong. Maybe try acupuncture or other non drug alternatives.
The last thing you need is a drug edpendence.
Find other ways to manage your pain. Pay attention of what sets it off. Maybe a hot bath and a massage will relax you enough to get control over the pain.
God bless you and thank you for serving our country.

I would ask for a referral to a pain clinic, Our hospital has one, after a while your body becomes used to the effects of the medication and you need larger doses to alleviate your pain. Also you may want to be sure your pain is not related to emotions, Maybe talk to a therapist as well to rule out a psychological or physical addiction. Good Luck.

If you can see a different doctor, not with the VA see them. Military docs arent the best really. Take motrin and hydrayte.

Just see a different doctor and be insistant with what works and what doesnt. They dont want to give you things you can become addictied too all the time unless it is all that they can do.

Don't you realize that docs are not willing to make you into an addict? You can ask for something non-narcotic like Ultram. It works well for me for bone pain. If you don't get any satisfaction, go to the head of the department and complain.

You need to notify your doctor again and let him know that nothing is helping your pain and that you need something different. This would be the only way to legally get any type of prescription medication.
