Amalek was a group of people who were the perpetual enemies of Jews.

When they left Egypt and were in the Sinai desert the Amalek picked off and killed the Hebrew stragglers. Also Haman from the book of Esther was a descendant of them.

Amalek was a tribe/nation, descendant of Esau, who attacked the Israelites fleeing Egypt for no apparent reason.
